PC Peripherals which r the best casing fans to buy ???

Well I know they don't move a lot of air, but I got a awesome cabby in CM 690II Adv and with Noctua cooler, my temps are extremely impressive

OCed to 4Ghz

Idle @ 25C

Prime Load @ 42C

I am happy with these values

I got the same....but mate these don't move a lot of air...very less to be precise. But you can't fkin hear 'em! SUPER SILENT!!!!

about cabinet silence, ive seen that placing fans as intake,in front of grills or meshes cut into the case, produces a loud whine.how to fix that?

@RD274,
your mobo has 1 header for the case fan and another for NB fan right?is it safe to run fans off the NB header?(i have a 785gm mobo)
Not at all. I'm using the CM I got with cabby as intake and its not making any noise at all despite running at full RPM.

My motherboard has just 2. One for CPU fan and other for NB header. It is safe to run fans off the northbridge header don't worry :)

I forgot to mention this earlier but larger fans are always better than smaller ones. They push more air at low noise levels. Hence if your cabby can fit 140mm fans then try getting some. I said try because -for some reason- we don't get a lot of 140mm available fans in India stores compared to 120mm.

AVOID anything less than 120mm as they simply do not provide enough CFM for the noise they make.

4 for 500 is really really really nice deal. Not the best fans but at that price you can't complain

i see.i was worried about running 120mm fans off the nb header as i thought they were only meant to supply low powered nb cooling fans.i have two deltas and running them off the psu made the noise unbearable.

and for fan noise,i had salvaged a 92mm pwm fan and was trying to configure it as an intake.guess im not doing something correctly.

No its nothing like that. I wouldn't recommend you use a Delta at all unless you have the option of manually controlling the fan speed.

For front intake mainly for HDD cooling Silverstone Ap121 fans are best. Just bought a fan and the HDD temperatures are reduced by 8-10 C :O

old temps with normal 120 mm fan (normal load)
1 Tb caviar black - 41
1tb 7200.12 - 39
500 gb WD green - 35

new temps with AP121
WD black - 33-34 C
7200.12 - 29-30
wd green - 28-30
really worth it. :D

You can get 200 mm Cooler master LED fans from ebay for 899 and 230 mm non led fan for 899, haven't seen 230mm LED fan on sale.

I am also planning to get a case fan. I would need 1 intake (side of the chassis) and 2 exausht (Rear and Top). I am looking at 120mm fans and prefer quietness over volume moved. The also should be Non-Led ones.

I feel the exausht ones need not be high volume movers as compared to intake ones and quiet ones can be used. Is this a correct assumption or am I having a wrong assumption??

what if i plan to put one 230mm or 200mm ( led) fan in front for intake , then on side where transparent windows glass of acrylic is their = 2 x 120 mm led fans , top 3 x 120 mm led fans , 2 x 120 mm led or non led exhaust at back and at last at bottom one 120 mm led intake fan ..... ;)

what do u guys think about it :) haa.....

means a total no. of fans will be 6 to 7 fans ......

and one more thing that will my corsair gs 600 support this much of fans ?????????

and will it help me in bring down the cpu temp ???? :/

^ you still havent got fans?

The PSU will support 10 fans and more if necessay(usually a typical 120mm PC fans consumes 10w)
"what if?"
what if i plan to put one 230mm or 200mm etc...Which iball cabinet do you have? I dont hink you can mount a 200mm fan in front for intake...
Pls change the cabby if you do want to put 6-7 fans -for one......you must mod the cabinet extensively and then the Pc keeps accumulating dust you will have to dismantle all the fans every week to clean the pc.

Case fans will lower ambient temperature and may or may not lower CPU temp. My antec 900 had my processor idling @ 20C with 4 fans......where as stacker with 12 fans is idling a quad @ 27C

^^

@prince 007

True adding more or bigger fans does not lower the temperatures of individual components and adds to the problem of dust accumulating inside the cabinet. What do you want to turn your cabinet into a giant FAN look set your priorities right like number of fans buy looking at the CFM values not size <A fast 140mm will throw more air than a slow 200mm in most situations>. Look for a decent cabinet that has got good airflow characteristics rather than the number of fans it can hold.

Buy the NZXT Tempest EVO ~ 5.7K <Prime ABGB> , if you do not have good cabinet already.

Get the fans that were recommended by Vivacious_tg those are good though a bit pricey. I'm sorry if I sound rude.

Hey,

What would you suggest for a low noise 80mm fans? My cabby is a bit old and supports only 80mm fans for the front and rear.

So long(2 years + :P ) I had the left the side panel open and yesterday was surprised to find that by just attaching a old noisy(bearings worn out) 80mm fan for the HDD brought down the temps from the high 40's to the low 30's.. But now, I am finding the fan noise irritating, hence looking for suggestions for 80mm fans that aren't to expensive(max of 400/500rs)

Thanks!

EDIT: As I just read, 120mm fans are much more efficient and hence, are 80mm to 120mm adapter plates easily available at Richie street? Or does one have to order them online?

OT: What software is used to monitor HDD temps?? Is there any single software that can be used to monitor CPU, GPU and HDD temps collectively??
