PC Peripherals which scanner to buy?

hi all,
i need to buy scanner to digitise various documents i got ,
also thinking of getting one which can help me scan my old photos.
which one you suggest?

Previously owned 2 HP's but both failed after warranty expiry.

I've got a canon 4400F now for past 2 years and it's still running strong. No squeaks unlike HP. It can scan negatives and the usual's. The scanning software from ArcSoft PhotoStudio is pretty good.

I was able to upgrade to latest version free.
 
not able to find this perticular model.

come on friends,

tell me which scanner is worth it?

i need to buy it in span of one week or so.

help me guys.
 
If you are interested i have a very genuinely maintained hp scanner.

Bought 3yrs back and was used by my dad just for genuine official work + photography & hence in mint condition.

Got its adapter/cd/with a descent easy to scan s'ware.

Lying since some months now coz now dad got his own psc.
 
out of all scanners (stand alone) available in india epson has the best, specs wise and vfm.read up on their website and call up the sales guy near you.you will get a good discount too.
