They are, plus the spare parts dont cost an arm and leg, like the BKK ones. But they had some bad issues in between - X3 or something had huge motherboard issues.

For the most part they are good. Its the same Mi/Redmi phones with rebranding. We got the batteries for Mi 11X and another Redmi (i think 10) replaced at 1.3K each. I still have the F1 but since its a 4G phone, not using.

They refuse to work if you don't give them that permission. They somehow make do without that ability on iPhones.

Toggling the SMS permission only changes the SEND_SMS app ops. This does not seem to affect READ_SMS.

What Android version is that? And what is the app in the second screenshot?

Here's what I see in the permissions dashboard. It says that apps can "view SMS" too (Android version 15). Also I have an app that can make a back up of all my SMS when I give it this permission, which shouldn't be possible if it can't read SMS

SMS permission is a permission group whose individual related permissions are declared by app authors themselves.

I just checked a few other banking apps and they do use all three of READ,SEND,RECEIVE_SMS.

But that doesn't mean they can read all your messages. Android further imposes restriction based on whether the app is your default messaging app.
