Which Trimmer to Buy ?

Guys, please suggest which hair trimmer to buy for facial hair. Like a substitute for shaving (not always but still.. :ashamed: )
Is the round/circular blades one preferable or the straight one ?
Anything particular to take care of while buying ?
Can the blades be replaced easily or is it not required at all ?
Also are there any issues / side effects of using a trimmer ?
Total noob when it comes to trimmers...please suggest
 
ever tried shaving your face when its dry? without any water? thats what it feels like. i tried it once, have avoided it like the plague ever since.

are waterproof, can do wet & dry shaves
battery powered, last for 8-10 days without charging
blades last 5 years for a hard beard (me) or 10 years+ in cases, replacements are easy, and if not - KMD

m8, avoid such comments without having used a real philishave. I have been using for the last 6 years, my grandfather uses philishave for 25 years+...

is it? he is 78 now, and still sticks to philips shavers. he had diabetes diagnosed more than 30 years back, and had to stop using shavers, as a nick had turned into a very big problem. On one of his travels abroad he bought one, then it started a chain, where he uses, my dad uses, and i use.
 
I suppose there was a similar discussion few months back and there many people had inclination towards some trimmer and it was not costly also. Not sure what that was.
 
Philips trimmers are pretty good. even ive been using one:

I agree with him :ohyeah: , dad brought home philips HQ30 , found it difficult !

Do u do wet shave or dry shave ??
As i find dry very irritating with the above shaver :@

The above shaver is total pain! I mean I tried it a couple of times and a few mins later ur skin begins to burn like hell! It also causes irritation (at least to me!).

This is good cos it just *trims*. I use this more often than shaving. I've got no problems with this.
 
Mine is older one of this

Philips - 8200 series electric shaver HQ8240/20 - 8200 series - Shaving - Personal care

now replaced by this model.

I prefer dry shave, and you get a pre-shave lotion that is like cologne, and can be used for a good clean shave. Typically takes 3-4 minutes for a shave, very fast, and can be done half asleep with never a nick.

There is a technique for shaving with electric razors which is quite different from standard foam razors, you need to understand it and follow it.
