PC Peripherals Which TV Tuner card/external box

Guys, I need to buy a TV tuner card, either internal or external, urgently i.e today. On a very limited budget around 1.5-2k, so cheaper ones will do just fine. This is just a stop-gap measure until I buy a new TV so I probably won't even keep it for long. I'd prefer an external as I'd be able to use that on my laptop too, but budget will dictate the purhase in the end.
Any recommendations? I have regular cable, not satellite.

i have Pinnacle PCTV PRO,,(pci interface though) 720x 578 resolution recording,should be less than 2k by now(got it 2.5yrs ago)
