Hi guys another thread of queries to you. So get ready to answer it :ohyeah:.

I want to buy a UPS for my rig. I am looking at APC, Powercom brands. I'll soon be adding HD4890 level gfx card to it. Chk my sig for my current configuration.

APC 650VA will do well. costs around 3-3.5k. I have one APC 500VA, legendary performance.

Can apc 500va(my current ups) hold Q9550 OC + gtx 260 OC setup? Heard it can take upto 300w only. How much will the setup take power during full load.

Well the 800VA can supply 540W so thats a safer bet than the 650. Plus the 800VA is the RS series comapred to the 500/650 which are ES series. The RS is better plus has longer battery backup time. If you go for 1 KVA you can add an extra battery for longer backup

I just bought a 800 VA UPS for my rig

@sumchamp

I am using my VX450 on my 3 yrs old APC BACK UPS ES 500VA model and its working w/o a problem. :) So, 650 will be very well. But If you want to spend more or to be safe for future PSU upgrade, then get a better one.

^^Microsoft? :P Microtek u mean. Its for 2.5k actually and well just see the problems reported by people recently. As others suggested to me, i'd suggest u go for APC as well

Dude, do not go for Powercomm/Microtek. APC is king as far as UPS is concerned. :D

Ok APC is for sure as suggested by all.

But how much 650VA or 800VA?

I am adding a GTX260 to my signature rig in a week.

Very good decision but keep their Service Center contact details handy, as you are gonna need it often and very soon.

:)
