I hav' not seen the items, but both r VALUE DDR400 RAMs & my Dealer is quoting Rs.2450 for the Kingston & Rs 2500 for the Transcend (both- 512MB) with 2-3 yrs(Life-Time) Warranty.

{TWINMOS is not available at my place}

Now,Which One Should I pick ???

I'm sort of building a Moderate/Medium Level Game Rig with Athlon 3500+ & XFX 6800GS

Everything READY,except choosing RAM,
So Guys,Plz HELP ASAP!

TwinMos

Transcend

Kingston

In that order... If you are really interested in TwinMos i can ask my dealer to ship it to you... Its easily available... The best value ram out there...

@ Techie-
Switch is Right, Twinmos is best and you won't regret it!!:hap2:
in fact, he was one of the people who were highly instrumental in helping me draw up a config for my rig!!:eek:hyeah: :hap2:
Me got Transcend due to unavailability of Twinmos at the time of purchase but couldn't help it due to reasons known to many here!!
Dunno present prices but think they must be lower!!:S :ashamed:
Some 2005 issue of Chip has quoted MRP of single stick of 512MB DDR400 Transcend as 2350/-!!:)
I got them for 2375/- per stick, 3yrs warranty in Oct 2005!! :p
And i read somewhere in TE that Kingston Value Ram is crap!!
Transcend defi better!!
Twinmos best!!:hap2:

Well, Transcend with Samsung chips or Elpida Chips is fine.
Stay away form Transcend with Hynix chips.

Last month I bought Transcend 256MB RAM (don't know abt chips) currupt within 1 minute after installing:mad: .

Thank god dealer know me well and replace it with Hynix now works well:hap2: .

Transcent 512-400 comes for 2.1K (3 yr warranty) and Hynix (with hynix chips) comes for 1.9K (1 yr warranty) in chennai

The hynix spd values are 3-3-3-8/2.5-3-3-7

I say with Twinmos u have got a high chance of getting Winbond UTTs, can be BH-5/CH-5/CH-6 .... as I have got couple 512MB (not part of a kit/set) of Twinmos with CH5(2-2-2-5@240). But Transcend with Hynix(256*2, again randomly picked) gave me good enough 3-3-3-8 240MHz (P4 in my office).... My thoughts ... Both are good....and you can get lucky with any of them!

Getting good twinmos now is difficult.
most of them are Cas 3 stuff.
in November i had managed to get twinmos cas 2.5 rated rams for a friend(had to visit the shop twice for the perfect match) but it ultimately somehow landed up in quad's m/c.;)

Paying a little more (about Rs.175 ~ 200) you do get 1st party hynix D-43 chip based rams which work very well too . but do not go for the cheap or low cost rams based on Hynix D-43 chips, most probably they are "remarked" chips and will give lots of problems even running at default speed of 200mhz.

I used Transcend 2*512MB DDR400 @ 2.5-3-3-7 for 6 months and had no trouble whatsoever... in the past I've had trouble with Hynix, not sure about Kingston or Twinmos.

Also, if you're going retail (OEM is available for a lower cost), try to get matched pairs of 256MB or 512MB so you can run them in dual channel mode if your board supports it.

Grab Twinmos CL2.5 Rams if you find them , very difficult to find them though.
The chips Twinmos Sticker has CL2.5 written and on the chip either "Twinmos" or "M.Tec" will be written.

ELPIDA aint that gr8 as its CL 3.0 and donno how much can it OC.
MTec or CL2.5Chips oc to 240 @ 2.5-4-4-8 @ 2.8V

Get Hynix D43 Orignal if u dont get CL2.5 Twinmos.

I have Transcend 512 Mb ram, which as chips from PSC. Does 240 Mhz at 2.5-4-3-10 1T timings.

Also have Kingmax ram which have their own memory chips and can do 3-3-3-8 1T at 240 Mhz. I bought the Kingmax for 1900 and Transcend for 2200, both with 3 years warranty
