I have seen lot of TV rips out here on the internet, especially where the guys who rip the videos edit them as they want it.

Editing the ads out, overlapping the channel logo with custom logo, adding scrolling watermark text that appears only for a few seconds, normalizing the audio, changing the resolution and output in XviD or DivX format.

Which software is it that gives all these options especially the Xvid option.

well I will be capturing progs using my tv tuner, capture is in MPEG-2 res:720*576 DVD format

I will be editing out the ads and putting a watermark if needed and will have to render the output in Xvid avi format(will be changing the resolution if needed)

so which software can do this......

Avi Synth is the most powerful tool for editing videos. but since a no gui tool you will need to write some scripts to achieve your requirements here.

I use AvsP tool which is the best avisynth script editor. watch the flash tutorial and you will understand how to use avisynth scripting.

The next thing you want to do is understand how avisynth plugins work. the best source for that is the avisynth documentation itself.:hap2:

After you've done all the required editing, you can use MeGUI to encode or use the commandline tools for x264 or xvid directly (if you want to be nerdy :cool2:)

hope this helps.

if you have any doubts about editing, feel free to ask me any time.

..and if all you want to do is very simple 'add credits', 'join videos', 'crop videos' kind of stuff, then Windows Movie Maker will do just fine.. handles any format as long as you have the requisite codecs installed, and is VERY VERY EASY TO USE :-)

Windows Movie Maker doesnt export in any other format except for WMV I thought

I have all the codecs installed.

Yes, I agree with a couple of these... you should use Virtualdub.. in combination with avisynth.. they play nicely together.

^^ works great... depends on what you want to do with it. Don't quote me but....I think it has added support for mpg or something... better check first.... been a while since I needed it.
