no you don't. you need any source game. only the shared files (files like source 2007 binaries.gcf , source 2007 shared materials.gcf etc) will be used by the mod. the rest of the content is their own.

When i was young and smart, i played this game on a PIII rig with Riva TNT2 and Sound Blaster live+Cambridge soundworks 4.1.
And every few minutes i would lower the volume a bit. :rofl:
It also was the first game i ever bought- so all the more special.
then it is unfair to even call it a mod. It is the whole game then.
Since so many games use it, tf2, day of defeat, hl2, I ,II, etc etc and we dont call them mods.
well technically tf2 and dod are mods, or at least they had their roots there. but you're right, this game is being built almost from the ground up. 4 years in the making, even though it's a remake of an existing game, it's definitely surpassed what a normal mod would be.
it's a complete remake, no changes, no additions, no subtractions. so apart from the fact that it has been done before, there is going to be nothing different between the 2.
