Cant seem to figure out the problem here. Most normal HDD monitoring programs like HD-Tune/Everest etc seem not to be able to show me the SMART status of my disks.

OS: Vista Ultimate 64-bit.

Only one I have seen working is Crystal Disk Info. Everything else comes up empty. Any idea why? :(

have you enabled SMART monitoring in the BIOS? by defaulkt its disabled on all boards i've come across so far

@sunnyboi: Good idea, I think I will check. But then why would Crystal Disk Report show me the status?

@Raptor: Internal drives

Nvidia 650i Ultra mobo.

dude chk out the bios it might be disabled in it

Just rebooted and checked BIOS, no option for SMART status there. Maybe someone with a 650i ultra can confirm?

+ then why would 1 program show it and every other program skip it (Tried a couple of them, nothing :()

EDIT: Even Seagate serial checking tool showed zip :P Same with Seatools for windows too.

the option usually comes in the 2nd page, integrated something page. that too last but one option in the page, last one beiing enable OS/2 support for >64MB. check it again :)

or atleast while its boooting, you should see HDD model - SATA port - SMART enabled just before windows starts to boot. if you canat see that, set boot disc as some other drive so that boot fails and you can see the screeen.

Its not a BIOS issue. Did some googling around, seems NVIDIA forgot to put in SMART support for SATA drives into their Vista chipset drivers :@ :rofl:
