Why are threads locked and posts deleted without citing any reason(s)?

Just wish these "mods" of such a small forum that too mostly within India were a little bit humble.
Bro don't disrespect the forum please, I can see you are frustrated so take a week off and come back fresh. I haven't gone through this thread so can't comment on whats being discussed but believe me being a mod is not easy, I can say from personal experience

Yeah your hard work is very evident when you leave directed and antagonising posts undeleted, which come under the personal attacks rule of the forum, yet freely delete other posts. Such hard work in exercising bias and discrimination.

I have never in my life personally attacked a person unless they started it first. I have always had an issue with wrong information or advice and more importantly, the truth. But some people get so butt-hurt that they then resort to their true low standards of targeting the person. @dafreaking and @Mann have been throwing shade for a while now, in completely unrelated threads, just randomly coming in and replying to my posts in an antagonising way. And your hard work is visible there since those posts are left standing.

I never knew hard work = discrimination.

Edit: i just saw that after two days, that clearly offensive and unnecessary post by @Mann in the Vi thread was deleted. I probably should have quoted it or taken a screenshot as evidence. Dunno if i should say thanks or too little too late.

by the way, what you or we do in IRL is irrelevant to our presence here. flexing your work profile is not worth anything online.
you have no idea about the work mods put in here and to compare it with what you do or "claim" to do in IRL is laughable at best.
I'm not the one who is flexing here ( what I do is not worth flexing)...what I do or "claim to do" yes surely laughable...like calling up people at AIIMS New Delhi at 2 in the morning from Vienna and beg for a bed with oxygen for a fellow TE member is definitely laughable.
Regarding this thread title ( rather a question) has a very simple answer..and after @rdst_1's post, I never deviated from that point.
Threads get closed because of certain members who appear suddenly, gang up against sommeone, make some inflammatory comments and disappear and you guys choose to overlook those time and time again.
Other than one member ( ? Aindrashis Gupta)
Never attacked anyone personally. That too because he tends to misguide people.
If you care to read about some member's first headphones ( Sundara) you may understand what I'm talking about.

If some post remains unattended where it needed attention, its because it was missed by the mods among 100s of threads and 1000's of posts.
If some post is gone, its because a mod saw it just by visiting a thread or a post was reported by a member and found not upto mark of the rules of the thread.

We come online at different times of the day or week and check what's reported, approve / disapprove posts of new users who have joined till they get the rank where all their posts get auto approved, look at every market sale thread if it complies with market rules, see any OT across threads not sticking to topic and discuss among the mods for things that need to be discussed and act on things etc.

I'm sorry, didn't mean to sound ungrateful.

Recent events and some asshole members have turned me into an asshole in return. I should be/know better than this.

We all just need to calm down and relax man. I say this again, if some post irks you, or is a clear personal attack, or is against the rules of the forum, don't get aggravated and reply back. Easiest way is to not feed the trolls. Just report the post and due action will definitely be taken.
It's the best way to maintain sanity for both us and other members. I know how many times I have to stop myself from replying in kind and I just report the post and leave the thread as otherwise it will just snowball into an ugly name-calling fight.
Edit - Being polite and formal never hurts. Even if someone is saying something you know is completely wrong, whether it is in the political or the technical threads, I will always try to give the member the benefit of doubt that maybe he doesn't know the truth and try to educate him instead of antagonize him. If he truly wishes to learn, then he will continue with a cordial discussion and if not then I just continue to ignore and report their posts.

Haha, if you and the other punk kids (probably half my age or less) like in the Vi thread think you can be bullies here, well it's really easy being all tough and shit hiding behind a keyboard on the internet, try it in real life and you may get the smart-ass slapped right off your faces. I'm sure you guys have a great game-plan on your whatsapp groups or whatever social media you fancy. So buzz off and get a life.

In any case, i won't be a part of a community with obvious bias and double standards. Mods don't hesitate to delete posts and lock threads while freely condoning and allowing certain others to operate with impunity. Even their clearly targeting posts are allowed to stay up. Yeah, so 'stop using it' isn't cutting it.

And I was wrong earlier, at least the other forum is upfront and open about their autocracy.

Very mature.
Age and mental maturity are two different things, and you've just gone on to prove this.

Different threads are locked for different reasons.
I can't find any threads started by you that are locked, so if this is about someone else's threads, can you point to them so I can be specific?

W.r.t. your deleted posts, since the post you were replying to was deleted, the follow up replies to that are also removed since they will no longer have context.
Report offending posts and they will be cleared out, so the original thread flow can carry on.
Don't worry about not receiving a notification, it means you've not done any wrong, just some thread cleanup. Only if there is a problem, notifications/warnings are issued (but ironically those people seem to ignore it).

He's pissed that his post in the Coffee thread, which went on the lines of "@AMG, please report this thread too, since this is not a tech thread, and violates the rules of the forum according to you" got deleted, and so did my sarcastic response to the same, about which I couldn't care less.

No Mr. Mod, I don't have ADHD ( it's ADHD, not ADD)
Think you haven't read the thread title properly...it asks about why threads get deleted.
1) It's my personal observation that certain people just come from nowhere, make few sneaky comments and go back to their holes to derail the discussion, and the thread goes completely haywire and eventually gets locked.
I just didn't know such people have WhatsApp group ( not really a part of Whatsapp culture). How was the post irrelevant?
2) Some idiot came to a gratitude thread and brought up his dirty hooker joke...You guys did nothing!! As according to you, he must be grateful for bl@wjobs and should proudly write about it!!
Honestly, it is your forum, your rules...I'm no one to suggest anything.
But it's not my non existent ADHD, but your cortical blindness and tunnel vision destroying this forum.
3) Do you really think anybody gives a flying **** if you delete some posts or ban some members who is not one bit scared of you spineless, scared to death, selfish individuals. **** off!! Get your vision and metal health fixed.
And go ahead ban me without deleting this post. I'm sure you will just delete the part directed against you. Show some courage, besides working from home for a livlihood and this miserable existence.

1) If that was for me, I dont even use WhatsApp, and havent accepted the updated ToS. I just log into the forum once every 3-4 days. Thats how and why I have a thousand posts in 9 years, not in 9 months.

2) My post was edited, and I was told (warned?) to keep the content friendly for the 12-15 year olds who visit this forum, which is also why there is no discussion on narcotics and tattoos. Its just that I choose to quietly comply, instead of whining and crying non-stop, and creating threads after threads.

3) If you see a problem with everyone, maybe its you who is the problem? You've by now told half of the forum to get their mental health fixed. And as for "giving a flying ****", you apparently did give, enough to type out a rant.

you are doing exactly what others as per you, are guilty of. Read the thread title and all your responses in this thread again.
if you dont care, stay away from threads where you cant contribute like this one. There are some where you can and thats perfectly fine. but we know you cant help it !
Forum being destroyed... Sir that's your opinion. This place has been around and will continue to be around whether any of us stay or leave.
you certainly care enough by responding again and again here. if you didnt care, you wouldnt derail threads yourself.
by the way, what you or we do in IRL is irrelevant to our presence here. flexing your work profile is not worth anything online.

Time to act out your signature.

Buddy, I've nothing against mod or anyone else personally here.
No, I won't report any post attacking me personally,( but will certainly report misleading posts like hype around certain audio realted hardware/ software as I know this industry very well), I can very well defend mindself against some keyboard worriers and certainly don't need help of mods.
Just wish these "mods" of such a small forum that too mostly within India were a little bit humble.
I am in the panel of editors in at least one huge medical journals, it doesn't work like a forum, but possibly a little more difficult to manage compared to TE, so I do understand little bit of the works mods here have to do.
But sorry, couldn't agree about the quality of moderation in this forum. Small forums like these are easiest to moderate with such tame, lifeless group of people.
Visit a forum like Audiosex or gearslutz ( now gearspace) to know what a truly free forum is, and how the mods their work.
Anyway enough of me...hope you guys are tired of me by now ( and the feeling is mutual)
I would rather enjoy real life and forums where people are not scared shitless all the time.

You should. Thats what the rules state. Someone will throw a stone on you, and you will go and hit that guy with a baseball bat, the police will probably arrest you for aggravated assault, something which could've been avoided had you reported in the first place. An eye for an makes the whole world blind.

And if you have such a poor opinion of this forum, or of Indian forums as a whole, why do you even bother logging in everyday?
