Laptops why do dell and HP laptops cost less in the US of A tahn in INDIA

As the title says this is an open discussion on the above topic.

I built two similarly configured laptops on Dell India and Dell USA

But saw a price difference of about 8k between the 2 though the US one has a gb of ram extra.

The configuration is Dell inspiron15 with core i3 370M,4gb ram and 500 gb HDD.

Any ideas??

Computer hardware and consumer electronics are cheaper in US and south-east Asian countries compared to India due to the added tax and duties here. If you were to include the European nations and the UK, it would be comparable to India.
 
Consumer Electronics used to be Cheaper in USA earlier... They are even now... But comparatively the price differences are easing out(recently), though it might not be possible to have a 'Zero' difference...

Eg: Compare the Prices of SLR Cameras In USA & India for Canon 500D or so.... Indian Prices are almost 2k cheaper than available there. And this is really surpising and great news for us :-) ...
 
Aaah finally some life in this thread.

Ya maybe its cos of the taxes and duties levied on individual parts.

But a difference of 6k on a basic model is too good to be forgotten or ignored i think.

will Dell ship from US to India??
 
Dell US doesn't ship to India .Even if you want it to get it shipped it will cost a bomb and not to forget the custom charges
 
to add to the thread..the laptop might cost cheaper in usa but if you add the warranties, the laptop goes even if not costlier(and u cannot transfer complete care)..so, try comparing the cost after adding 3 years advanced warrranty..
 
well 3 yrs complete care costs the same in USA and in India i think.so if u have to add the cost of 3 yrs warranty then u do need to add it to both India and USA

parts are imported, right? For eg., GPU's and mobos dont cost the same in India as US due to tax. So thus the difference i guess.
 
^^Exactly,all the parts are imported which attract import duty and only the assembly work is done in india.
 
I would like to revive an old thread to add more observations.

I configured an alienware and saw that a core i7 with gtx675m costs 2199$ while the nearest configuration in india came to 1,75,000.

also i think we receive updates on hardware much much later than the guys in US.
