Graphic Cards Why do ppl always prefer ATI over Nvidia

why is this guys. Can any1 of u explain. Inspite of ATI having several issues, like compatiblity, temperature, no display, etc, etc which i came to know thru TE
 
Its the other way around for now :P

People prefer ATI over nvidia :P

cheaper, new technology, could be made working with minor tweek...

What tweaks ? Please do not misinform newbies if you don't know what you are typing :|

and what new technology ? All I see the G92 is been repeated till date, from 3 gen. they are using same archite. and you call that technology ?

There is no such issue with ATI, it can be defective card.

Since the AGP days, i've been buying Nvidia cards like a whole lot of other ppl on this forum as well.
 
^As such u cannot say that nVidia is better than ATi or ATi is better than nVidia. Neither is free of problems, nor will they ever be, and there will never be a time when any one of them becomes a clear cut winner. It varies from time to time.

Once the 8800GT was the king of all VFM cards. Then the 4850 became the one. Then something else came in. That's the beauty. Since you cannot decide, there is healthy competition, and in the end its good for the buyer.

You say that ATi has problems, heating etc. So do many nVidia cards. Maybe not the same ones, but they do have. It's best to have no preference, buy anything that gives you more Value for your money. Love the value, not the brand.
 
Couldnt agree more with Sudhir aka Phoenix, but the bottom line is you need to decide ur budget, the games you like to play, do some reading online, figure out the card that works best for you!
 
actually, my question is , most of the members in TE suggest only ATI card to whoever comes b4 them and asks suggestions for new pc.

About 1 or 2% of the members only recommend nvidia the reason for which is unknown....
 
^Then you have only seen recent threads. Currently ATi has good cards in nearly all departments, and after the price cuts, they have become more VFM. It may be 4850, 4670 or 4890.

As i said, it varies from time to time.
 
See, basically, ATI has 3 alphabets, and the spelling is easy to remember. It is also faster to type ATI than the other one (I forget that name so often, should write it down somewhere if I can remember it again).

On a serious note: Read more posts, in the current crop, ATI looks better VFM at the price points that are feasible to most people 3-6K.

Those who go for higher, usually research enough to make a informed choice on their own.
 
Nvidia is and will anyday be better than ATI. Period.

The only card which I found good was the 4770 which they have stopped producing IMO. Rest all the cards are nothing but goat crap. No offence intended to owners.

It's basically with your budget now a days. ATI cards are in budget compared to NVidia ones but this was history, current prices are kinda similar!
 
Value for money is kinda high for certain atis cards...so budget gamers mostely prefer ati...but Still nvda is the leader!! which sells more than ati!!

yup totally. It IS a see-saw.

but some things are signature of the brands:

nvidia: easy-to-use Sweet offerings

ATI: Techie friendly Value offerings

More people in the world choose peace of mind over VFM and hence nvidia is the current market leader

No offense to anyone here :peace:
 
The glory of being the best will always be shared by both the companies as one will come out with a fantastic card then the other will come out with something better than the other, this is a never ending competition which will go on forever.

All depends on the current lineup....

If you had asked same question last year 2008 it would have been 95% nvidia suggestions
