India has a massive and growing base of PC gamers and enthusiasts—but when it comes to gaming hardware like keyboards, mice, coolers, and cases, we’re still almost entirely dependent on global brands like Razer, Corsair, Logitech, ASUS, etc.
Even the few “Indian” brands we hear about (Zebronics, Circle, Foxin) mostly rebrand budget Chinese OEM gear.
This got me thinking:
Why hasn’t India produced a single competitive gaming hardware brand?
Some possible reasons I see:
Lack of local manufacturing/R&D ecosystem for high-performance components.
The market is too niche and price-sensitive for premium gear.
Import duties make it hard to price competitively.
Design/branding focus is missing in the few attempts made.
But with initiatives like Make in India and PLI schemes gaining traction, shouldn’t this change soon?
What I’d love to hear from you all:
Have you come across any Indian gaming peripherals worth recommending?
Do you think there's a real opportunity here for a homegrown gaming brand?
What would it take for a startup in Indi
a to break into this space?
