Why no Micromax?

Device getting old is also related to one's requirements. If it is the new hardware that one wants then yes all devices will get obsolete in a year (same company) but if it is only about apps then the device does not get old till the time the manufacturer provides updates for the OS which unfortunately does not happen because they want to mint money. My wife uses a phone which was launched in 2010 and almost 99.90% of the apps are still compatible with her phone and they work as they are expected to.

Your statement holds true for iOS devices. Specially iPhone 4 onwards. However most android devices do slow down...

From my point of view, It depends upon your pocket mainly when we are talking about costly phones. I mean, I have one candy bar Nokia for office/business purpose. Then I have another Chinese Karbonn A15, bought for 4.7k. I have compared it My friend's Iphone4 and IPhone 5 side by side. When it comes to hardware build quality offcourse Iphone will be much better. Iphone 5 is much ahead(look and feel wise). But when comparing it against Iphone 4 or any branded android phones with less then 10k cost, it (karboon A15), it looks much better.Below are the points -

1. Display quality is quite good.(much better then my old 5800, or my friends HTC wildfire or any 2-3 year old branded phones). It may not be best in today's term, but its more then enough. comparable to IPhone 3.
2. Touch- It was my biggest concern after using the cheap tablets from Chinese companies. But touch is much much better in phones. Very easily comparable to any branded phones from a year ago.
3. Screen size - Where in market one will get a phone with 4 inch screen and a resolution of 800x480 for 5 k? I guess minimum 13k is needed here for the same specs.
4. Dual sim - Too good for me :p , Now I can use the extra 3G Sim slot for datacard's sim given for free from office for free net. :p

How I see this as If I had bought a Ipohone 4 last year for 35k, then by this time of year, I would still be stuck with comparatively smaller screen, old iphone specs and and Old outdated IPhone :p. Today I can easily buy a Chinese mobile better in every specification for hardly 5-6 k. If it doesn't work or stops working in a year or so, I will throw it away and will buy another cheap/good mobile next year for 5-6k, which may even come close to Iphone 5 or so on.

It hurts if I buy a Samsung galaxy today for 35k and 6 months later MMX or local companies start selling the same spec mobile for 7-8k.

Saying this I feel that the high end mobiles from MMX or other local companies are little overpriced. But if your budget is low for the time being and you really want to enjoy the high end specs in a mobile then one can go for these Chinese ones.

Today local/Chinese mobile are so close in performance/looks(except quality) compare to other branded ones in the history of mobiles. Same was not the case just 2-3 years ago.

Agreed. I bought a 12k "Chinese" phone with the intention of using it for a year. Runs everything I've thrown at it so far and very well too.

I don't really need a more expensive device, especially a Samsung or an HTC. If I buy a 20k + device in the future, it'll be a Google phone. It feels strange to say this but right now, it seems to me that faster hardware is almost useless beyond a point, unless you play cutting edge games on your mobile device, which I don't. On the other hand, software updates are highly welcome, so Google's offerings will always be appealing.

I can say with certainty that a Nexus 4 will get Key Lime Pie. Every other phone is at varying degrees of probability.

Shows the poor build quality.

If it was truly indian product,i would have bought it.
But its chinese product with indian company stamp.
How does that make it indian product?

Dude i think i have told once only god made us everything else is built in China.... And if you think like that then HTC, Samsung, Nokia all are made in China... So those are chinese products as well and I forgot to mention iPhone's few things are from China...

A friend wanted to buy the Canvas 2 or the Canvas HD. Canvas 2 has a very 'meh' feel to it. Settled for a Xolo A1000. Kinda gives Samsung a run for its money when you first glance upon the build quality and hold the phone.

Disclaimer: I own a Galaxy Note and am a Samsung 'fanboy'

Do they make everything in india??
Importing small parts okay but bringing oem and putting indian stamp on it does not make it made in india.

Does samsung or htc or nokia all products made in their country?? The answer is No all products are made in China or rather imported from China and assembled in their own country same like mmx

But i think MMX is like picking a random chinese handset and branding it. Other companies although have manufacturing in China the quality control is totally different. Companies like Samsung, Sony, Apple etc.
At the end you get what you pay for.

They do have far better QC checks in place and they do proper testing to get EU clearance and FCC clearance while your favourite Chini handsets , What kind of certifications do they have?
nil nada zilch.

expose yourself to unprecedented level of cellular radiation and get your bheja fried free of charge.

enjoy your chinese crap.

Regarding, Made in china debate, As someone pointed out, It's different when it comes to Micromax v/s International brands. MNC brands do their own design, follow stricter QC during manufacturing regarding process & components, Do their own testing etc. While MMX and clan just import pre-stamped instruments and resale. So, there is a vast difference.

China is the place where all major electronic manufacturing done be it Apple Samsung or HTC the key difference is these company design there products have strong QC measures the OEMs build products according to the design given by Apple,HTC etc
does MMX design there handsets? do they have a R&D setup? just buying phones off a an oem's catalog & adding your logo doesn't you a make manufacturer
