Wi-Fi Help

ok.. so i was sitting at my window yesterday and found this unsecured wi-fi network.. connected to it.. i get a signal strength of Low.. at the moment im getting 100kB/s on torrents with this signal.. anyways they are using a linksys BEFW11S4 v4.. i have this linksys WRE54G which is a wireless range extender/repeater.. on the box it says only for use with WRT54G and WAP54G.. but im pretty sure i can get it to work with this neighbours network so i have a strong signal in my room.. im gonna keep trying, anyone have any ideas?

also, if i get a linksys WAP54G instead, can it do the same thing ? like extend the range of their network..
 
looks like uve basically connected to some1 else's unprotected network, if its some isp direct its ok else if its some1's limited net, theyre gonna get a HUGE bill
 
its this big office in the next building.. they have a 2mbps dedicated or something.. i really need to get it working with the linksys WRE54G or a netgear WG102 router so i can have a good signal at home.. it drops sometimes and i cant keep my laptop at the window all night :P
 
ahahahha omfg i got it to work.. finally after 4 fckn frustrating hours im now sitting on my bed with a full wi-fi signal while that netgear wg102 AP is at my window :) was fooling around with settings, got the MAC address of those ppls router thru a sniffer, tried all the modes in my AP with that MAC and finally got it working with 1 mode.. INSANE.. sooooo damn happy right now.. gotta be really careful though.. soo worth it anywya mwhahahah free 100kB/s+

i put the AP out of the window now.. on my AC.. will find a plastic box or something to keep it in for weather protection and make a hole for the antenna.. experimenting with places to get the best signal now ;)

im getting a constant 100kB/s on torrents.. hope these ppl have an unlimited package *prays* else theyre in for a shock with the bill and then bye bye net for me
 
I am not asking u to reveal the IP re... I am just asking u must be getting IP through DHCP right ?? How did u extend the range using ur Router...
 
yeah i disabled DHCP on my AP, it uses the DHCP server of those people.. i added their gateway and stuff, enabled wireless bridge mode, got their routers MAC and entered it in..
 
Its not legal to use someone else's b/w for free, if you are caught, you could be in trouble, since there are strict laws regarding stealing bandwidth and eavesdropping on private networks.

well this is india. if by chance u get caught. which 100% wont happen. the best excuse that every1 gives here in india is that i dont know what or how it happened but i started getting good speeds. lol
 
yeah haha.. im enjoyin been downloadin all evenin, capped it at 60 though just in case.. dont wanna push it.. was experimenting around wid the access point and found a good position for it.. hasnt dropped at all for the last 2 hrs :)
 
ahah just found out who im stealing off.. its a branch of some webhosting and BPO company in the neighbouring building.. hahahah ownage.. pretty big company and still so retarded
