Hay Seed,
you don't have to put the entire AP out-side the window.
Almost all network company has this type of external antenna. Available in India too.
Buy it and remove the existing small antenna from the back of the AP and install this external antenna. Then just put the antenna outside the window on the AC.

word of advice find out their non business hours thats when u can use it, during office hours if it gets choked theyll notice it and nomore freenet for you

I just oppose it.

I am a System and Network admin and using Linux tools, I always monitor -

  • Network access in non-working times, specially Nights, and holidays (ethreal) very strict in it.
  • Who is eating more and more bandwidth and what ports... etc. (ether-ape) go to hell, except my Sys must not suffer... lol

So, if there is someone like me, then...... :death:
 
if there is someone who does all that it wouldn't be a non encrypted unsecured network in the first place lol

hmm.. well as of now the AP is working fine + i didnt pay for the AP.. i got it by umm ....;)

though i might get that antenna.. let me see if this net lasts for another month or so.. after that i guess they wont realise.. yday my dad saw lights blinking behind the curtain and he was asking me wat is it.. luckily told him it was our 2nd router we hav (which is incidentally an AP i spoilt at college and got home which looks like my WRT54g) and dad has sad memory so i told him i fixed tht and im testing it ahha and he went away.. cant get caught again dont wanna tell him or he'll start using this net too :P

anyways ive capped the downloads at 30k/s.. thats good enough for me.. free 256k + a 256k on my home comp = nice downloads :).. plus can browse on laptop easily also then with dloads running

and yeah hehe if they were that smart to check network usage the router would be secured with WPE atleast :P or maybe they dont think the signal will reach outside:rofl:

btw they have a BSNL connection.. around 1mbps.. any idea what corporate plans bsnl has? im praying that somehow theyre on an unlimited b/w plan :P
