^^Yup true, tho IE gives lower speeds usually. The main reasons for using a Download Manager is for scheduling and pause/resume and allocating how much bandwidth to use for downloading.
 
Flashget forever.

All are equally good more or less except for Download Accelerator - the worst download manager ever!!
You won't notice this until you play a game that manages to use up all your ram while at the same time downloading a big file (200mb+) in the background.

If you are doing this and your download task happens to finish while the game is still running, DAP will screw up it's 'merging' procedure badly ending up in a corrupt download.

No idea if this still happens in the newer versions, but it happened to me more than 3-4 times back when I had 256mb ram.
 
All download managers i have used ( Flashget, IDM, Meta Downloader, Net Transport ) gave me the same speed.
It's the features that differenciate them.
I like Flashget's interface. Has usefull features like limiting downloading speed.
IDM integrates with all browsers including Opera and handles rapidshare and megaupload well.But lacks some of flashget's features.
 
i just use opera here for most files. when some servers are slow i use leechget to force more connections and get more speed. it doesn't really matter for me as i get my full download speed from most servers. i only download multiple files when im going to sleep.. in that case i just let all of them run at the same time instead of queues.
