Hi guyz,

Recently, I have bought the game Metro 2033 and I have also installed it in my pc. But before running it, I need some help regarding settings for this game. I will run the game on my Dell U2311H and preferably @ 1600*900 resolution if not full HD @1920*1080 reslotuion.

Now I need to know will my gfx card handle it smoothly? What settings should I use as I googled and found out that Metro 2033 is quite a demanding game.

My proccy is Q6600 @ 2.4 Ghz.

Also, I have same queries regarding F.E.A.R. 3. Please share some inputs soon.

Thanks in advance.

You didn't tell which gfx card you have.

BTW I have a C2D at 2.66Ghz and a 9800GT and I was able to run Metro 2033 quite smoothly on 1600*900 (native res of my monitor).

Enuff for what settings? Everywhere I read that GTX 260 has a poor performance specifically for this game.

Can I run at full HD settings with gfx details normal? Or should I ramp down the resolution and boost the gfx details? I need 40-45 fps minimum to have smooth gameplay. Is it possible?

I have same queries for F.E.A.R. 3

Also, will overclocking my processor help me to gain decent fps boost - say 10 to 15?

They Recommend atleast a HD5750 for FEAR 3. And GTX260 is faster than a 5750. So i think it should run at Full HD and Normal or low settings. Metro 2033 should also be smooth at Full HD.

Low settings + Monitor's native resolution will be better than high settings + lower resolution cuz LCD displays look blurry at lower than highest resolution.

^^ the GTX 260 sp 216 OCed to GTX 285 speeds will handle Metro 2033 at High settings without AA @ 1080p quite well. You will average around 33-38 fps for sure.

Fear 3 is a non-issue for the GTX 260. It will max it out @ 1080p with AA to boot. Avg fps will be in the high 50s.

I have a download rig that I use to download stuff & test games to make sure they are working, & it has a OCed GTX 260 and it handles both these games @ 1080p just fine. BTW the cpu in that rig is a PII X3 720 OCed to 3.2 GHZ

Although i would recommend to OC your core 2 quad to 3.0 ghz to remove any bottlenecks at lower resolutions like 1600x900 or 1440x900

What is a JRE?

from all the replies, I can onclude that I will be able to play both games @1920*1080 resolution with normal settings. Ok guyz, I will check tonight and report back. Thanks to all of you.

:)

Metro 2033 will run comfortably under DX9 at 1920x1080 on your RIG.

F3AR will run comfortably under DX9 at 1920x1080 on your RIG.

Thanks for the replies. I will play tonight and post back. I think its the time to overclock my cpu+gpu to get the extra juice out of my rig.

:)

I am not so sure Metro 2033 will run comfortably on a GTX260 without pushing down most of the settings. It raped a couple of HD4850's in crossfire even at 1680 x 1050.

I think I was getting around 30-35 FPS on my system @ 1080pi. So the GTX 260 216 might have a difficult time.

Will verify tonight again once I reach back.

Referring to Metro 2033. Will check FPS for both games and confirm back.
