Will my railway ticket get confirmed?

No, I got a lower berth, not the side one. And the guy opposite me got down in Secunderabad itself, I was mostly alone below for the rest of the journey. It was good.

Now, the quest to come back to Bangalore begins. I have booked a ticket in 3AC KARNATAKA SMPRK K EXP for tomorrow. The waiting list is RLWL 6, which is given for boarding from intermediate stations. I'll go tmrw morning and wait at the railway station to check whether I get a seat or not, if not, then :hail:waiting room :P[TABLE="width: 600, align: center"]

OK, the chart has been prepared now. My status is W/L 2. Can I expect to get a seat after the train reaches Bhopal from Delhi?

Definitely / Maybe / No

Meaning? How does this intermediate station boarding w/l works? Since the initial chart has already been prepared, will it be updated as and when the train reqches other stations?

That was very helpful of you mate .

@blkrbot
With W/L 2 you should get a seat , albeit i think it will be difficult to get 1 single seat for entire journey , i have seen people boarding trains with W/L tickets and getting a seat at a particular station in 99% of the cases .

The charts wont be updated at every junction , you will have to speak with the TC and get it resolved

The ticket was cancelled as it was wait listed, and I couldn't board the train. I took the second class ticket and traveled in the unreserved general coach. Oh... what a nightmare and an experience it was, all 27.5hrs of it. I could write a few pages describing it if I had the time.

^If it is an e-ticket, the refund is processed automatically and transferred to the account in about 10~14 days' time.

You could have taken the ticket for reserved compartment (sleeper class for day journeys) instead and talked with the TTE to upgrade the ticket to some AC class. This involves some issues since you will have to sleep in a berth which is allotted to some person who might alight the train from an upcoming station but is vacant till that station. When he occupies the berth, you will have to switch to another berth and so forth. Jugaad, in short but works otherwise with some trouble.

Nothing happens.

same thing happened with me this Saturday, took sleeper class because AC's were full, thought I could speak to any TC & upgrade etc.......

My W/L ticket got canceled & I had to take a flight.

@malhotraraul : I think @Gannu meant the physical ticket you get from the counter at the station, it won't be cancelled automatically like the etickets.

Yes, like Gannu said, all W/L e-tickets are automatically cancelled and money refunded. It took 3 days for me to have the money refunded.

I think not all the money are refunded, apart from cancellation charges there are some other penalties too, does anyone knows more ????

i c ............. didn't know that.

p s .... once upon a time not a long ago, i had asked for some advice, did u put me on W/L & cancelled it later ? :p

 So sorry, missed that PM, I thought I replied to it! Will send you a PM shortly! :)

The cancellation fee for each wait-listed passenger is just Rs 20 or so. Other than that the IRCTC service charge which is charged per ticket of Rs 10 or 20 also is not refunded.

The payment gateway surcharge too is automatically adjusted in the refund amount provided you pay with a CC or DC
