What I heard was you need to show them that you were using the processor with the heatsink provided. Of course no one uses them. So just before sendint to warranty place it and remove to leave a marks of the thermal compound. heheheh

OP don't worry about useless things... just do it, u won't need warantee on intel, set CPU SHUTDOWN VOLTAGE @ 75 or so :) PC will shut down IF U EVER cross safe voltages.

Although the gpu's of ATi..even the IGPs have mirror finish. No idea about nV

Those are exposed cores/dies, i.e. without the heatspreader.

Its not foolproof. You can still kill a proc by running higher voltages but without exceeding temps. With the smaller manufacturing processes its all the more easy to do so.

Overclocking produces High Temps and Extra Voltage, these two evil dudes does effect CPU, thus reducing it life.

oc does void warranty in technical terms

but who knows that ur proccy burned out all by itself or by ocing it:ohyeah:

while claiming the warranty u dont talk about the oc thing right

burn = Warranty void :)

read warranty statements guys, it comes bundled with the product..;)

+1^^ and before using any Overclocking utility there is a message like this(just an example)

So Overclocking does not void the warranty:) But if there is a damage due to Overclocking, then you won't get any warranty claim
