Here's the deal
On my current comp i had 2 hard disks - a 32GB IDE and a 160GB sata
A month back i broke my motherboard's SATA port. :ashamed: so i have been running only on the IDE as of the last 30 days.
On that sata HDD i had installed quite a few apps.
I will be assembling a new system on monday. And i recently came into possession of a external HDD. S
So here is my plan :
1. Create 2 partitions on the external drive, X: and Y: and copy the entire C: and D: drive contents to X: and Y: respectively
2. Assemble the new system with the old SATA connected, but booting from X: (if possible thru bios i will rename it to C: )
3. Uninstall all the apps on the old SATA.
4. Plug a New 120GB internal SATA in, do a fresh install of XP on that, restore My Documents and All save game directories and of course D: drive
5. Reinstall all apps that were uninstalled
So.... will this work? and any alternative suggestions? My new cabby is a CM690, so thats why i am avoiding using the IDE disk in the new comp.
