One of the most popular music players of all time will cease to exist come the 20th of December, 2013. It will be an end of an era for music loving people who used the application for listening to music in the late 90s and early 2000s via Winamp.
"Winamp.com and associated web services will no longer be available past December 20, 2013. Additionally, Winamp Media players will no longer be available for download. Please download the latest version before that date. See release notes for latest improvements to this last release. Thanks for supporting the Winamp community for over 15 years," said a note on the Winamp.com's website.
Winamp was a very popular media player as it offered a very high amount of customization which users could do with skins and plugins. The skins were especially popular as it could make your media player resemble many things such as ipods, cars, radios and mobile phones.
The player was mainly developed for windows - and a decade ago was an essential install for anyone with a new computer - but later on different variants for Linux and Mac were also released, although weren't updated a lot.
Nullsoft was acquired by AOL in the June of 1999 for $80 million.
