Hi guys, my HP pavilion dv6-1215ee came with pre installed windows vista , i have installed windows 7 ultimate on this machine and downloaded all the drivers and installed , but now my issue is that the battery life has gone down drastically , form some 2 hours to less than 1 hour:(:(:@:@.... i installed all the drivers form the HP website Select software and drivers HP Pavilion dv6-1215ee Entertainment Notebook PC - HP Customer Care (United States - English)
,,still the issue is same....can anyone here help me out please.....

This shouldn't be an issue of OS. Do you dual boot or have you just installed Win 7 and removed Vista ? If Vista is still then see if you still get 2 hours battery backup.

if its battery issue,... i am having 3 year extended warantee , and its only 7 months since i bought the lappy, so battery pack also comes under warantee?

Its a problem reported by Microsoft on some hardware about battery consumption (on windows 7), actually on windows 7 , the battery charge& discharge commands from the OS fails ,and a partially charged battery reports as FULL under OS and vice versa.

MS will issue a patch for the same, also from the HP support too, plz check both websites for the same,ITS NOT AT ALL a HARDWARE PROBLEM !!!.In the same scenario you will get more backup if you loads winxp SP3 (!!!)

but now when the system is booting up , it shows to replace my battery pack, will i get my battery replaced under warrantee?

How long does your computer run on battery at power save mode. Not the estimated time but the actual figure. If it dies in an hours time then guess you'll have to contact hp.

these problems are related to windows 7 ONLY and not battery unless its more than a year old, some makers issued software patches to fix and others via bios updates.

Unless if there is any update or confirmation from the lap maker for 100% wind 7 ready, dont install win 7 OS (else may suffer battery problems).

many recent models fixed these problems and few users still reporting the same !

1. Have you checked the Power Settings in the Control Panel to make sure you're on the Power Saving Mode?

2. I get longer battery life using Windows7 on my Dell Studio 15, so does my friend whose using HP dv6000 series.

If you are getting the battery warning, get your battery replaced in warranty. Its life must have reduced a lot.

if you have more backups on vista/xp then its related to windows7 OS only, else .The error message to replace battery on win 7 startup is the bug reported on win 7 OS .

i have the same problem on my 2year old HP dv9000, but i contacted HP, & they said the battery is fine, its Win7 related issue.

tho, HP said the battery's efficiency will degrade with time & use.

for around 1 whole week, this battery warning disappeared, then i thought MS have rectified the problem, but then couple of days back that warning crap came back.

you can cross check your battery performance in both OS's by using HP's HP Battery Check utility

download- HP Battery Health Center
