I have some information about release dates on WMP 11 for XP that no one else has. This info was obtained from a Microsoft employee who I can't name but was able to give me this info. If you know other MS employees, they may be able to confirm this info by digging a little bit through Microsoft's internal knowledge base (employees only):

Microsoft is planning a Public Preview Beta of Windows Media Player 11 for XP on Wednesday, May 17th. Users will be able to download the beta here (anyone will be able to get it): http://www.microsoft.com/windows/windowsmedia/default.mspx. The final RTM release is scheduled for late June 06 (I will try this week to get a date).

Now do i need 2 uninstall WMP 10 b4 installing WMP 11,.............

& if NOT......does the WMP10 becomes corrupt aftr installing WMP 11?

i.e can BOTH WMP 10 & 11 Beta Coexist???

nope..u don need to uninstall v10 b4 installing v11
v11 will automatically upgrade v10 of wmp
it wont get corrupt..u can easily uninstall v11 later if u don like it.
both can't co-exist..all u'll have after the install is v11. :)

Anyone running this version fine on x64 bit XP as thats what I'm using as my primary OS. I don't see any reason it sh;d not work, as the WMPlayer in x64 is a 32bit one only, still w'd have liked to see any views. I'm gonna check it out surely.

Aside from the wonderful visualizations, WMP 11 is improved in many other ways. First of all, it's considerably simpler looking than previous WMP, with a nice tabbed-based navigation scheme across the top of the window. Each of these tabs hides a multitude of context-sensitive additional features, however. When you click the little down-arrow under Library, for example, you'll see various media library-related options, including options for switching the view from music to pictures, video, recorded TV, or other media content (it is called Windows Media Player, after all).

Checked the one downloaded from flexbeta, It doesnt install on x64. Says the "WMFDist11 is for a different hardware platform"

I guess I shall have to wait till official release

Everything about this version is good except for two things.. I dont get the advanced tag editor and the left navigation does not show tree type listing of artists..

Windows Media Player 11 has been redesigned to make it easier for you to enjoy your digital media experience. With Windows Media Player 11 you’ll minimize the time you spend managing your music, pictures, and videos and maximize the time you spend enjoying them. Read on for information about how to get started with the new design.

You can switch to a tab to see a view that targets the task you want to complete. The arrow that appears below each tab provides you with quick access to options and settings for that task. For example, the arrow below the Burn tab gives you the ability to burn the currently playing playlist to a CD in just a few clicks, as shown in the following screen shot.
