My friend has an 80Gb samsung HDD(IDE) with OS(XPsp2) and 3 partitions (C,D,E). He needed to resize the C: partition . I suggested him to use Norton Partion Magic. He tried to tried to merge Eand Fand then resize the C partition
After this the system rebooted, but would not load Windows. He tried reinstallig Windows with a Windows Cd ,all Windows files got copied to the HDD but the Installation did not start, the screen remained blank. I suggested that he try connecting this HDD in another PC and format it with Windows CD, He changed the BIOS option to Boot From CD, Now, when the Option "Press Any Key To Boot From CD" appears, the keyboard stops functioning ( none of the keyboard buttons work). The keyboard is not a problem as it works with the original hard disk connected to the PC. I am unable to guide him.. I need help from experts in this field.. Please Help

Use 3rd party apps, get a bootable cd of Ubuntu or get Hiren Boot CD and boot the computer using the same. Now , Ubuntu will get you to the GUI and u will be able to see if the disk structure still exists i.e the partitions are still there and not curropted completely. If the disk structure is fine then this will be usefull for you to go ahead and take a complete backup of any of the documents / folders you would need. If that is not required then boot from Hiren Boot CD and use the 3rd party apps in the CD and format your Hdd entirely and remove all partitions and start afresh. Another alternative would be to attach the hdd as a 'slave' hdd onto another desktop and do the same....run chkdsk , scandisk on the problamatic hdd.

get a multi boot cd...then boot your pc from cd room, then chosse window live..then format your c drive...then re instal your windows..hope it will works..hanzy told you a good option...but if you are a nob then ubantu or any other OS will give you some prb..

try booting from CD without HDD connected...

If you successfully boot without HDD then it's a HDD causing problem otherwise problem lies some where else..

first do this test before going for anything else...

another thing if at boot from CD prompt everything freezes then most probably CD is not readable or Cd drive is unable to read it ..

I beleive as soon as you hit enter it freezes as it is trying to boot from CD but can not read CD ...

Hello,I am the friend who is facing this problem.I tried Hiren boot cd(BOOTABLE),KILL DISC(BOOTABLE) and windows XP sp2 bootable. In all those bootable CDs, the option can not be selected from keyboard and it tries to boot from windows(HDD). I tried replacing CD rom drive but no help.keyboard is also fine.Everything was working fine till I put the HDD which was partitioned. This HDD I put in a working PC as primary Master but I cannot erase or format this HDD. I thought like some problem with bios so got it updated from motherboard site. still no help.
When I put a raw HDD, it gets booted from Cd and set up starts immidiatly.Where is the problem now?
Please help
Thanks
Regards

Disk structure/Partition table record is damaged most probably.Attach drive to system as Salve back up impotent data(if it still exists) delete all partitions and re create in another system or with help of Hiren Boot CD.This is only solution to your problem.

Hi friend,
I have taken the hdd out and it is installed as primary master in another PC (with MSI motherboard PM8M-V). I have put hiren boot cd (which is ok and working in all PCs).I have selected 1st boot device as CDROM in bios.after switching on,the display appears as BOOT FROM HDD and BOOT FROM CD. When I try too select the option from keyboard up down arrows to select boot from CD, the keyboard doesn't work and it goes to boot from HDD.I cannot select to boot from cd.Is anything wrong with motherboard?
If I connect my regular hdd,and try to boot from cd,when the display asks to press any key to boot from CD,keyboard doesnot work at all. I tried to replace with new keyboard but no help.
What is this problem?
Is both motherboards have become faulty? The original problem occured in Intel D945GCPE motherboard.
please guide me to solve this problem.
Thanks

Problem appears in your partitioned HDD which is getting the things hanged up. Connect this HDD and go to setup of BIOS (before boot from CD) whether your partitioned HDD is being detected by BIOS. If yes, what are the details
