Windows Phone 8 devices to be powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon S4

It has been announced by Qualcomm that the upcoming Windows 8 devices will be powered by the American company's Snapdragon S4 processors. Microsoft announced Windows 8 two days ago and they have partnered along with Nokia, Samsung, HTC and Huawei to bring the first Windows 8 devices later this year. The Windows 7 devices came along with either the Snapdragon S1 or S2 processors.

The Windows 8 devices will feature the MSM8960 dual-core Krait (Snapdragon S4 Plus) processor bundled along with the Adreno 225 GPU. It has been integrated with multi mode 3G/LTE and it also supports Dual channel LP DDR module memory. It consumes lesser power than the older variants of the processor and it would offer HD 720p video resolution, DirectX game support, 1080p video capture support and reportedly better hardware security.
