I can't reveal that.

This means that you know something we dont .

To be clear, I don't mean that they created it in whole. But I believe they were closely involved, that is they might have had some access to the source and all. Wipro Technologies – Windows Vista™ Deployment
has some details, which lead me to believe that they were consulted on some issues.

This means you dont know , and you are speculating based on a link ....
Not to trouble you Kroolie Baby ..:P but what exactly is it :)

After reading the link u gave, i came to one conclusion: Wipro is a hardware company whom M$ has selected to help in deploying vista in companies who want the software. Nothing more.

Wipro helps those companies by analysing whether their comps are vista compliant, etc etc.

Wipro Technologies will enable organizations to have a smooth transition from their existing platform to the new Windows Vista™ operating system. Wipro is a certified “Application Compatibility Factory†(Vista™ Migration Partner). Our processes for migration result involve minimal touch time with the client’s infrastructure.

i dont think M$ will allow any outside company to touch their code or come near it.

Having said that the only reason why people are stuck to windows is because of exposure . simple analogy - a child grows up learning only kannada . when he is 12 years old , he is expected to learn and converse in only english . That will be a complication . Leaning a new language this late will be an immense effort and the transition , difficult .
What about essential websites sites that use activeX ?

if you dont need these then you are fine.

office documents in 2007 use a format called .docx, again forced to use an app that understands it if your work depends on it.

m$ lays lots of traps like these, its not just a question of learning anew GUI/OS. There is a very big windows ecosystem out there.

And last of all and maybe most important, apps you prefer to use (best of breed) that are *only* availiable on windows. I'd say this is the biggest stumbling block and i ain't talking bout games here.

What you described may work for new users that don't have all these dependencies, but the time will come when any or all of the above will apply, its just inevitable.

And then you do the simplest thing, use the OS that does it all.
because you just want to use the friggin system and not dick around with diff app configs & incompatibilities

Dude, a LOT of people outside MS have access to Windows source code.

It is true that I am speculating as to whether Wipro has access to code, but I do think they must have had access to internal releases and dev access too. They apparently have a USMT 3.0 based deployment tool. Obviously MS gave them access to at least this much.

P.S. I'm interning in COSD (Core OS Division) in MS. However, I have no specific knowledge regarding Wipro and its relations with MS other than the press releases, nor do my opinions reflect that of my employer.
