I have Windows XP Service Pack 2. I have installed the OS and created an administrator account during installation. Therefore, I am able to use that account. However, I am unable to access the account named 'administrator' in my computer. How can i find the password of the 'administrator' account. Can any one help please?

If you did not set a password during XP installation, it will not have a password. These steps should help you re-gain access to your admin login:

1. Start » Run » Type control userpasswords2

2. Select Administrator and click Reset Password to enter a password

3. If part of your problem is auto-login, click the Advanced tab and check: Require users to press Ctrl+Alt+Delete

Default Administrator account in Windows XP has no password, unless you have specified it upon installation.
You can always boot into 'Safe mode' (F8 at startup to display menu and select Safe mode) to access that account.

In case you have forgotten your Administrator password, use the steps 'RiO' has outlined to reset it. Please note that your existing account must have administrator privileges in order to reset the password.

.

Or press ctrl+alt+del twice at the logon screen to access the same.

Or if you actually want to show the Administrator account in the welcome screen, then try this registry hack

System Key: [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\Winlogon\

SpecialAccounts\UserList]

Value name: Administrator

Data Type: REG_DWORD (DWORD Value)

Value Data:(1 = show Administrator)

Dunno what these are? then dont try it :)

better go for

type compmgmt.msc in ur command prompt

go to local users and groups

nd then go to users.

rite click on the account whose password u want to change nd dats done
