Hi There,

I am experiancing this peculiar problem ever since I installed google chrome in my PC as well as netbook. Any hyperlink in dailogue boxes of installers or even programs are opened by MS Word ??

I removed chrome, Yet despite that the problem still exist ?
Currently using IE8 and it is set as default my browser.
OS : windows 7.

Any solutions?

I'm directly lifting this off MS forums so all credit (if your problem gets solved) goes to them:

Can't open any hyperlinks. (This operation has been cancelled due to restrictions in effect on this computer.)

Try these :

Have you tried using Set Default Programs for Internet Explorer within the Control Panel? If not, please follow the steps below in order to do so.

* Click the Start Pearl, and select Control Panel

* Within Control Panel, click Programs

* Underneath Default Programs, select Set your default programs

* In the Programs list, highlight Internet Explorer and click Set this program as default

* Click OK

This should set Internet Explorer to open as the default for opening hyperlinks.

Go to Firefox web browser | Faster, more secure, & customizable | Mozilla Europe

2 Downloaded Firefox 3

3 Run Firefox and allow it to automatically make itself the default browser

4 Open Tools - Internet Options – Programs and make IE the default web browser

5 Close IE

6 Uninstall Firefox

Install Google Chrome again (the problem is gone, because I have come back to the Google territory)

Uninstall Google Chrome with the Google Chrome uninstallation software

Uninstall IE 8 (How do I uninstall or remove Internet Explorer 8?) back to IE7

Repair the registry as suggested in You receive an error message when you click a hyperlink in Outlook.

Upgrade IE7 back to IE8

Try these Basic Steps

Open Internet Explorer
Go to Tools / Internet Options
Click on the Programs tab
Click on the Reset Web Settings button

If it does not work try these advance steps

Go to Start / Run
Then enter regsvr32 urlmon.dll
Click Ok when finished
If that single change does not resolve the problem, repeat the process by running the following additional entries:
regsvr32 Shdocvw.dll
regsvr32 Msjava.dll
regsvr32 Actxprxy.dll
regsvr32 Oleaut32.dll
regsvr32 Mshtml.dll
regsvr32 Browseui.dll
regsvr32 Shell32.dll (Windows XP and Windows 2000 only)
