i currently own A64 X2 5200+ Windsor(2.6GHz 2Mb cache) with Asus M2A-VM Board which limits my OC on stock HSF to:-
CPU_speed_max - 3055MHz on 235x13
FSB_max - 245MHz
Memory - 490MHz is max i cud go due to fsb limits.

now i have an opportunity to get rid of this setup n get E2160 + TRUE120 with IP35-E(mostly 2moro :P)
(previously was gonna go for Q6600 bt now have 2settle for E2160+IP35-E setup due moolah spent on HD4850)

so is it worth changing my current setup for better gaming after OCing?

any suggestion regarding my selection of new setup are totally welcome :cool2:
i will be switching to quad core after an yr mostly.

i would also like to know what limits can E2160 reach on stock HSF.

e2160 can very easily do 3 ghz on stock, if you put up a TRUE along with it ,it will definitely give nice temperatures under load ( would be better than athlon 5200 + ) . Go for e2180 instead of e2160, it's little higher multiplier will help in OC .

not a good idea. you'll not notice anything in real world applications unless you are into rendering/encoding. Q6600 would have been a different story altogether. no use buying the ip35-e now since it has dated and p35 mobos will be phased out soon.

instead save the money for nehalem and upgrade next year or spend the moolah on the WD640 if you haven't got it yet.

max fsb of m2a vm is arnd 260..u just have to lower the multiplier ..i dont know why but it boots @11x259 but dont bood at 12.5x259 even 250..

......but any way i think on bench mark u ill get pritty good no.s.if u upgrade..like 3k's in 3dmark06-cpu ; 20ish on superpi...

well...I dont see any reason to upgrade (Or downgrade !! ) right now..

athlon x2 5200 is a good cpu..rather save the money...wait 7-8 months and then go for nehalm !

Not worthy, save money and get E7200/P45 when REAL need arises. TRUE120 is also outdated crap heatsink, costs lot of money when we include silent fan cost which cost approx 800. Better get Xigmatech S1283 HDT, Hyper 212, cheap effective and light weight.
