nonsense ...sell the 650i and get a p35 asap. keep the 2140. it won't oc much on a 650i.
now that is silly....2140 OCes pretty well on the 650i. no use upgrading mobo wen not required yet :)

EDIT: to make things clear, me not looking for a >3Ghz OC :) something around 2.6-3 will b sufficient for me ;)
basically i want to keep any volt bump 0 or min. me not very comfy with bumpin up voltage. so ll just prob goto the upper limit on default volts only.

you can go to 2.8-2.9ghz at stock volts... whether it is 2140 or 2160 the stock voltage is the same and you will get the same OC...

how much fsb does you 650i do btw?

it has to get to 350mhz fsb for the 2140@2.8ghz

not worth it... upgrade to a higher end processor if you must..

Changing to a proccy with the same performance is not worth it ImO...

the fsb? we shall find out as soon as i get my freezer pro, wont we? :ohyeah:

hmmm...ok apo. will try that. NOOB ALERT: btw, is it dependent on the mobo or the particular proccy piece that i have, something called an fsb wall? any explanations are welcome :ashamed:

generally mobos have fsb walls so having a higher multiplier proccy or with unlocked multi helps, but the 21xx procs also seem to have a fsb wall and just won't oc past it regardlss of how high volts you go.
if you are trying only for 2.6-3 i would say don't buy a 2160,it should do just fine.i had to slightly bump my voltage for 3 but 3.2 took 1.4 and was just too hot.:(
and as pappu said a lot depends on luck.
