The Samsung 740N?? good enough for gaming and movies? Will use in Mumbai only, so max 3-4 hours a day, rest I have good enough office comps...
Switch, how's that LCD u just got?? recommend it?

Buy a new 17" flat CRT. Samsung 798 MB or LG E700 SH is like 6.2k And yes the Samsung 740N is good. Switch bought two of em ;) Its for around 13k.

I cannot decide if whether I should move over finally to LCD panels or not?? Is the 740N good nuff?? HELP...

@ Puns I can consider your offer too... just lemme get things straight as to what I want... confused boi here!!

The monitor is very very good.

Good VFM and good choice in the 13K range :).

Just make sure there are no dead pixels and stuff (maybe try for a demo there itself although I dont need to tell this as Appo is going with you :) ).

Now where in Mumbai could I actually pick up the 740N?
And suppose I decided on the LCD after all, what should I pay for one, its sub 13K right??

I dont think anyone will get it for sub 13K, but u just might.... I am getting it for excellent price thanks to apollyon.....

Try for <13K or even 13K is excellent price...

13K ain't excellent either...

@techboi... finally a decent, legible reply... yeah I prefer new too.

@josh... thanks for the link (phoned switchy.. he finally picked up..)

OT but related: How can you tell if an LCD has dead pixels... been using Dell and Acer at work for more than a few years, and they haven't had any issues. However, it will be different when I walk in to a store to pick one up for home :)

This method was posted by Eazy :).

Convert the background to pure white(Change the wallpaper to pure white) and look for any spots on the monitor (make sure that the room is dark,as dark as possible).

I used this method while picking up my LCD and it worked.

Thanks to Eazy .

Good... now I have noticed a dead pixel actually showing up with a black screen too, the pixel never showed up with a fully white screen (but I'm talking about a cellphone display here) would doing both (white background once and black background once) help even more?
