Want to buy/rent a gig of TCCD. Why if u ask... benching bug has bitten me :P. Err... BH-5 will do as well if the price is right!

Edit: 256x2 will do as well cos all I care about are high speeds in benching. So if someone wants to get rid of their old high performing ram, send it my way.

I think DJ had a pair of OCZ 256 x 2 .....

And Eddy had once got hold of a pari opf CH5 or BH5(I forget which) 256 x 2 in Chennai.....

And why suddenly?? Micron not good enough??

@ Nikhil,
The ocz is CH-5. it does not go over 240mhz (3.2V Vdimm) but the latencies are very low CAS 2-2-2-5.

However if chaos is liberal and makes judicious use of his cheque book he can have my "Hand Picked" Geil ONE TCCD 2 x 512 Rams, DDR 600MHz, CAS 2.5-4-4-7,
at the price i had paid for those @ newegg (210 USD).:ohyeah:

ps: The current price in Singapore is S$ 380 approx.

Ditto for my TCC5 :ohyeah:

Deejay PM me ur expected price for the CH-5. I think it'll go higher with 3.4-3.5V.

@Nikhil: The transcend 5BD sticks are speed binned. One of them is having a hard time breaking 250 and remaining 3D stable.

@ chaos,
No chaos i doubt it will go higher. i have been there and done it. absolutely No Go. The m/c refused to boot (dfi-ultra) above 240 ~ 242 levels and get this even at very relaxed latenties of CAS 3-4-4-8. it seems the limit is around 240 ~ 242 Mhz or thereabouts at 3.2+ V Vdimm.

Anyways, despite this if you want to buy it kindly let me know.

^^Eh you shouldn't be trying cl 3 since no BH/CH ram can do cl 3 even at 200MHz. Relaxing latencies on winbond chips is of no use really.

@Switch: PM me the price mate :P.

Yes even i was under that misconception earlier but just for experimentation sake i rebooted, changed the cas to 3 and see the enclosed pic.:S

Motherboard is Asus K8v-mx , cpu sempron 2500+
normally i use cas 2.5 on this m/b @ 220 MHz 1:1

hmm, deejay.... conflicting sentences........ no doubt your TCCD is impressive, but whats with "newegg" and "handpicked" Newegg made a exception for ya? :P

naaaah I think what he means is that the TCCD chips were handpicked by Geil ....

Coz they released the Geil One series after TCCD production had almost stopped and most of the other companies were using TCC5.....

And just check out some of his screenies oin some other thread..... Those RAMs are phenomenal.... they do 300 and there are not many who can do that .

sorry for OT guys:

chaos, EVERYTHING IS SPEED BINNED. even the lowly semp 2500+. its just a process the company does to make sure the "thing" does what it is advertised to do. if it says 250Mhz 3-4-4-8, the company makes sure it does that. if it says 200Mhz 3-3-3-8 the company tests "uptill" that. thats where all the overclocking comes from.

so when u says "its speed binned" then "it has hard time breaking 250" i get lost.

Btw chaos, the TCCD are a real steal. remember, a 272mhz 3-4-3-0 UCCC is faster (or almost equal) than a 200Mhz 2-2-2-5 monster. Just because the timings change meaning with the higher frequency, like so:

Tcl = 3 = 3/.272 = 11.029 ns CAS delay

Tcl = 2 = 2/.2 = 10 ns CAS delay
[/code]

the extra size really helps the benchmarks (if u are not gunning for superpi1m i.e.)

lol ok. my bad. that way sure, its ENTIRELY possible considering the heavy price dj payed for them. geil must hv put in monster tccds in them. but yaar, $210 for 1 gb. DDR2 4tw! (DDR-1066 @ 4-3-3-2 :P)

No. this "hand picked" is not coined by me.:no: it is the phrase used by GEIL in describing this product everywhere and i am merely continuing the tradition :D

BTW this GEIL one does 320+ MHz at somewhat higher CAS of 3-4-4-7 , 2.75V, and i can run the cpu at 1:1 at that speed.(i.e. "if" the cpu is capable of running at that speed for eg. my 144 opty):D

infact for testing purpose i actually start this ram at 300mhz on most of the m/b + cpu combo. for e.g. when we had bought quadmaster's 3000+ cpu (some not so great batch / datecode cpu) i had actually started it at 300 mhz ...and the m/c booted at first try ;) but looking at his worried face (since i was feeding 1.65V Vcore to the cpu:D ) we stepped down a bit to a more comfortable level.:ohyeah:
