Wanted a 400-500W Dual rail PSU. It will undergo extensive butchering, so warranty isnt an issue.

I'm totally out of the PSU scenario as of now, so hopefully the oldies will guide me :P

Must be cheap tho :ohyeah:

Must have 24pin connector, 6pin PCI Express connector will be a big bonus. Oh, SATA connectors too. Native ones with the 3.3V line too

Forogot to add. Looking keenly at Powersafes.

EDIT : OOkay increased budget. Throw in new offers :P

Not sure if you'll find a dual rail PSU, 400 or 500W, for that price... but you can consider the Delta OEM 500W (marketed as a Zebronics server PSU) available for 1.6k near SP Road. Bought one for a friend who runs an X2 desktop with 2 optical + 2 hdd + 8800GTS. Been more than a few months now and it's holding up well. It lacks a 6-pin PCIE connector but every card comes with 6-pin adapters anyhow.

I feel 2.4k for the gigabyte 460W which is actually an FSP Green 400W is a nice deal. Spend that extra bit lol. Active PFC, dual rail, 4 SATA, PCI-E and 3 yr warranty. What more can you ask for so cheap.

Edit its running my old AMD rig with an X800XT just fine.

Can't remember full specs but I believe the rating of the +12v rail is 20 or 22A. Or, increase your budget :)

Will give a week's time, if no deals then will go striaght for this PSU.

OT : Nice! Is the gigabyte psu available locally ? I doubt if its available in bbay..

Sunnyboi - The seventeam psu's are also decent..i bought a ST-420BKP recently for 2.5k odd. It has 2 SATA connectors and a PCI-E connector. Comes with a 2 year warranty and readily available here in bbay.

ST-450-BKP is 2.5K odd, same 12V rating as the 500 and lil lower 3.3v and 5V iirc. :)

somebody please point me to seventeam specs :) cant find them on google

EDIT : The 450 which bikey pointed out looks good...what all cables do you get with it?

Thats a passive pfc psu....go for the gigabyte one...that unit seemed to be very solidly built. Will power even an 8800GTS with a quad :)

The Gigabyte that Chaos said , if the same FSP as on SPCR, is also quite efficient as per the SPCR review.
So high efficiency+Active PFC is a BEEG plus- almost unherad of in that Price range. :)
In the end the FSP 400 may be giving as much as the higher rated ST-450 bcoz of the above factors. :P

Also check the Antec EA(earthwatts) series.
Saiyanman benched his DQ6 using an EA380 and iirc, he said the psu was never a bottleneck. (it had 17A per rail iirc, same as the EA500 but lower 3.3v and 5V.:S)

I have heard the ST-500-CKP is not that efficient but is very heavy as it has copper heatspreaders/sinks. :P
The ST-500-BKP is dual rail, 18A per rail,
The 450 has the same specs on 12v iirc but less beefy 3.3v and 5v..
Has 2 SATA connectors native and some moelxes- pretty generic in looks.
But friends use ST-500s in quite a few Q6600 rigs OCed to 3.6G with a mid/low end gpu+1-2HDDs for rendering without any issues till date. :)
