9k for something thats available for 60$ internationally

or

Pl suggest a site that ships this or anything similar to India.

or

Anyone has something similar to sell :P

You can get it on ebay.com (not ebay.in), search for sellers with good reputation who will ship worldwide. you should get it for about the same price as in the US + shipping (still less than half off 9K)

Dear Friend,

Due to government policies and rates of taxation at different ends, the pricing in India for goods imported through official channels will be more than their US rates. There are many factors for deciding pricing in India for imported goods and hence this high a price.

We will definitely inform you as soon as these products are available at a better price.

On another note, kindly try Digital Cameras, Camcorders, TV's, Home Theater, DVD Players, Apple iPods for ordering spyder2express. They do ship to India. Although, please note that in this case, you will not have any warranty or support in India.

Best Regards

lol..you here...great...Welcome to Techenclave! :)

As already stated in the mail, I understand all factors contributing to Indian prices but I dont understand the US price multiplied by 4(almost).

Arre get it through bhphoto. They have an india liason office in pune, they'll charge u 36% duty and $50 shipping.

If you dont mind that, pickup the spyder, its pretty good from what I've heard ;)

Hi,

I am glad if I was of any help to you. Have not dealt with bhphoto india liason office, but from what I know, kindly add the following to the 6K you have reached.

1. Central sales tax 10%
2. freight from pune to you at Hyderabad

Glad to be of any help.

sheeett...:'( : :death: :cursing: :crutch: :bye2:

^ Duh, 36% including sales tax :P

Shipping you need to add though.

@ vij - Try Singapore or something, will be definitely cheaper.

Vij,

If this going to be used only for setting up (or may be used once in 3-6 months), can't we members of TE think about buying it for a group. Like in our case some interested members in hyderabad can buy out one.

Think about it and let me know, I would be glad to contribute.

Though the discussion has already gone long, but its worthwhile that most professional LCD s-IPS/PMA lcd panels are perfect with calibration & you wont need a device to do that & there is nothing called "ACCURATE" calibration as you will have to do it on a monthly basis as monitors fade over time , CRT goes faster than LCD. Also note that calibrating the monitor is just the 1st step, not the last if you are aiming at print match between monitor & printed results.

I have bought the gretag eye1color pro for Rs 15000/-& use it for CRT monitors but recently got Lenovo LCD & out of the box its calibrated, I still tried calibrating it & it did not make any difference instead it screwed up the original LUT of the lcd,
LCD dont fade in their individual RGB channels as crt do , only thing is that LCD do is loose brightness over time & thats constant in all channels.

On another note if you are a color pro then do consider getting good software along with it for calibration as its the software which plays an important role while calibrating.
I dont know what is bundled along with this cheaper version but for sure cheaper version will have less features leaving you unsatisfied..........................so if u r a color pro then look for a pro version, have a demo so u understand how it will work.

Yeah, I'd agree with you, even for my TN panel, I used a calibration software, created an Adobe ICC profile and uploaded it to the PC in my friends digital lab.

That way I can ensure that what I edit onscreen is printed on paper ;)

Anish what are u talking about???
You dont create a monitor profile as adobe ICC profile & load that same profile to another computer.

Profiling is very personal to the color setting/monitor/graphic card being used & wont work on any other setup.

Profiling is a description of a particular setup & will only work with that setup. Its like your name is anish u are 25 yrs old male now the same name may be used by your friend too but he wont have your profile working for him, he may not be a male, he may not be 25 years...etc etc.

Care to share more info so others dont get confused reading ur post.

Hi,

I have read some posts in this thread and feel there are some ambiguities floating around. I would like to clarify some points on calibration for everybody.

1. Only some very high-end monitors are factory calibrated and even they come with a hardware calibrator so that you do the calibration on a regular basis. One such model that comes to my mind is the Eizo CG221.

2. You should calibrate a CRT monitor every 2 weeks and an LCD monitor every month atleast.

3. The light in which you have set up your monitor dictates the color temperature of the monitor. For eg. If you work in a dark cave like lighting you should calibrate to 5000K, if you work in subdued lighting you should calibrate to 5800K, if you work in bright light - reduce the lighting. In case of spyder2pro, you can let the device read the ambient light and then suggest you what color temperature is appropraite for your conditions.

4. In pro model you can also make the spyder2pro tell you what should be the luminance values of absolute black and absolute white of your monitor taking into consideration the lighting levels of your workplace.

5. After you have calibrated your monitor/s, the next step should be of profiling your printer. Here you make a printer profile of your printer and then only can you get a perfect match from your monitor to your printer.

6. The light in which you view your prints is also very important. If you view your prints in CFL, kindly note that these lamps and tubelights and bulbs all have a CRI (color rendition index) of not more than 65. This means that of every 100 shades of color, the light source can show only 65. Do you remember why when you match one cloth to another in a garment showroom you always try to see the cloth items in sunlight. Regarding sunlight, even sunlight changes color temeperature throughout the day and from open to shade. What you need are light sources which have a very high CRI, above 95 and color temperature as close to 5000K as possible. To know more about these bulbs, contact us.

We are always open to a healthy discusion whether you buy from us or not. Also do not forget we also offer money back warranty on Colorvision color calibration devices on our website. So, you may buy, try and if you do not like it, you may send back the goods.
