Hi People....

I want to buy a SATA / SATA II HDD. Capacity anything from 60 GB to 250 GB.
So anyone going for upgrade in storage department sell your old SATA / SATA II here :D .

Interface : SATA / SATA II ( preferred )
Capacity : 60 GB < < 250 GB
RPM : 7400
Warrant : Should be in warrant.
Price : Post me your deals below 4 K

You can get a brand new 80gig SATA II hard drive for about 2.7k or something thereabout. Seagate or Hitachi.

Yup but if i get some good deals i will go throught....
Hope someone has 160 or more giggers for sale...
 
Have you considered two 80gig drives in RAID 0??? Of course, that would go a little bit above your budget of 4k.
 
Yesterday Gulbir of Prime came over and we were talking about HDD prices and why they are so much higher in Mumbai compared to Chennai - so from my house he phoned someone in Cheenai and ordered a lot of Hitachi 250GB SATA II HDDs and he said he will now be able to sell them at close to the Chennai price of 4650/- - this is quite a drop from his current price of 5.2K

4650/- is the last price I have seen on this forum for this HDD from a post by Raghunandan.

These HDDs are due to arrive by the end of this week so check with Prime after that - unless you have a better price from another source in Mumbai.

AFAIK it's always either 5400 rpm or 7200 rpm. typo error maybe.

Ya a typo... I am interested in 7200 rpm also.

@mav3r1ck there are 7400rpm HDD and also come mostly for Lappys. :)

Raghu misquoted the price. its Rs.4750/- 1 week back when he bought it, i was with him. Am buying the same in 2 or 3 days.

I did not ask, but he has to ... otherwise I will not buy this HDD even if he sells it for 4K. :)

BUT.... Hitachi have a whole new lot of drives to be released this summer - I put up a post about those in the Hardware section. It may be worth waiting for those drives. The dudes at Storagereview.com have been raving about the next GEN of Hitachi drives.

DO what I do .... do Puja of the HDD before installing and break a coconut on it for good luck. :)
 
Hehehehe... Break a coconut on it. That would be like a true test!!! If it can survive a coconut being broken on it, the hard disk would probably be able to survive almost anything it would encounter in the course of normal daily usage!!
