X-Fi Titanium - is it worth it ? and head phones ?

X-Fi with an insane SNR? More like insanely crappy OPAMPs. Have you tried the headphone out on an Essence or Halo Claro with moderately good headphones like the Sennheiser 555s or AudioTechnica 700/900s? Be prepared to blow your mind..

Well you can always change the OPAMPs... Or get an Auzentech X-Fi who's output is SUPPOSED to be near flat. Unfortunately the best sounding thing in my house is my PSP :( Everything else is 20 years old.

But mine sounds abnormally bad on headphones, worse than 400 bucks chinese MP3 player bad. There's definitely something wrong. But on speakers its BY FAR superior to any of the previous Creative cards I've owned in quality, and quite noticeably superior to the Xonar in surround sound with EAX.

I recommended it to the OP solely because he's getting a 7.1 and there is no better card for gaming/EAX and multichannel speakers.
