Vandal baby, this is for you.

and regarding the issue resolved, only evga came out with a different version which supposedly does not die.... for not alteast :P

aing... how stupid.. where did I mention 7800GTX... I said 7900GT d00d...

alteast??? or did u mean atleast (neva mind k/b issues I know) :bleh:
@ I've tested quite a few 7900GT's and have been running one for nearly a month... no issues

L.nemesis u made the right decision 7900GT it is...

So, from now on, is it about the people what they think about certain product is better choice? Or, are we going to stick with facts?

ATI X1K series is better, innovative, faster, reliable than GeForce7 series, if anybody thinks I am wrong, then kindly prove it.

reliable.... w00t??? dude no one has ta prove sh1t to you... I agree that the radeons have marginally better IQ everyone does (not talking about your IQ radeon...duh) who honestly gives a rats rear end to have to prove anything to you may I ask!

U stick ur facts and your controversy up where the sun don't shine mate AFAIC

on a more neutral note controversies about who's better have always raged and we'd all do better to stay away from them... all they do is generate flames and cause ill feeling...

No point going for a 7950GT as it is priced closed to a 1900XT or even XTX after rebate (at newegg) and performs much worse. You may be able to find a 1800XT around 20k.

Contact Tirupati and SMC.

Hey SmartAss! :D

You know what's J00R problem is?, you try to be oversmart on THOSE subjects in which you're not SO clear, so you better stay in J00R limits. I didn't asked for it, just give me 2 good clear reasons, on why he should choose 7900GT over X1800XT?, your opinions are clearly based on what J00! think. How about stating few FACTS now?, show if your lovely 7900GT can able to do HDR+AA and if it can execute X1800XT in all gaming test?.

It's not MARGINAL, it's BIG, unless you know how to differetiate between NVIDIA and ATI Antialiasing and Aniso. And YES, ATI has the IQ advantage, and yet you're saying to him to get 7900GT?, how lame are you now?

? If you can't prove it, then why don't you just leave it?

What it has to do in this thread? Are you going to present us with some facts, are you just going to bable?

You mean, if you can't provide any solid facts, then just "flame other people on the forums"?

And please, don't use the word "neutral" :D

If I'm wrong you're a waste of time kiddo....;)

I've used both NVIDIA and ATI cards, and currently I am using "some" top-end ATI Video cards, it's just the fact of fact that I don't "show-off" like you ... and btw, instead going little "off-topic", why don't you just stay "on-topic" and answer few of my questions to you listed above? :D

How?, and how about stating few facts now?

lol.. calm down guyz, no need for a flame war now. Both ATi and nVidia have good and bad cards and every one have thier personal opinions based on thier own experiences.

I have myself used both ATi and nVidia cards. The question is which is more vfm in my budget. I would definitely go for a 1900XT if I had 25~26k to spare and its undoubtedly the best in its price range.

But my budget is a bit less, so looking at the cost of 1800XT and 7900GT, 7900GT looks a better vfm option. I was only ready to extend the budget a bit thinking an 1800XT would be far more powerful than a 7900GT. but looking at the reviews, they are almost on the same footing.

@kcab: As far as I could see on newegg, the 7950GT are priced at $299, only $30~50 costlier than a 7900GT. So my guess is that it should be around 21k in India. It seems that 7950GT is more like a replacement for 7900GT. Their price point looks almost similar to the 7900GT.

Anyway I am on the lookout for 7950GT too if they they do not have a too high price tag. Any Idea about the availability in India..?? I would go for one its priced near he 20k mark.

I won't mind whatever you get, eitherway you're going to enjoy latest games with eye-candy, what I don't like is, why people tends to argue so much without providing any facts to justify their statements in proper manner?.

However, I would suggest you again to re-consider X1800XT.

Err point is why upgrade at this point of time :S. The card will have zilch resale value once the DX10 cards come out. If I were you nemesis, I'd just get an asrock board and keep that 6800GT. Upgrade to a fully pci-e setup once DX10 is out.

Well, I want to get something back for my 6800 GT. thats why I want to sell it off now when it still has some value left. Otherwise it will become a museum piece since my sis also wants a new rig. Would have kept it if my sis been willing to use it later.

Also I will be waiting till both nVidia and ATi DX10 cards enter the market and stabilize a bit. So it will a long wait without being able to play all the latest games. Anyway I have to build a new rig for my sis by Dec, so why not build now and use it a bit. :ohyeah:

Only thing is whether my sis really needs a Core 2 or a D 820 is enough for her for the next 1~2 years.

see, thats exactly what i am telling ya.

You are moving to PCI express platform and that the major reason for you to sell this 6800GT of yours.

Then why you are looking for something better.

7600GT will be slightly better than 6800GT. It wont be upgrade. I agree.

But see this.

When DX10 comes you will be loosing a lot even on 7900GT when you try to resale.

When you sell 7600GT you will actually be loosing less money. Dont expect anyone buying 7900GT for even 10-12K in 6months time. You could comfortably sell off 7600GT to half the cost you will be getting. So do math. You will loose 8-9 grands while replacing 7900GT and a lot less when replacing 7600GT.

You wont upgrade but you also wont loose much.

@Funky: In how much can I expect the DX10 cards in Indian Market. I have a feeling that they would be costlier than the 7950GX2 when they enter the market. I think it would take some time for the prices to come down to even 30k or so. :(

Anyway even if I buy a card now I would most probably not be selling it.

^^ I made myself miserable trying to convince myself that it is better to wait and see for the next gens cards and to look for a card that will simply "tide me over for now". That's how I ended up with a 7600GS. And I'm miserable. I want a more powerful card and I'm ready to spend. Yes agreed that we are going to loose alot when DX10 cards come. But the same dilemma will be there again for DX11 & G90, or whatever. History repeats. So might as well have a history of getting the best vid card when you had the chance.

What else are we living for guys? Technology is awesome!

Arrre!! Don't forget that nvid/ati's bread'n'butter is none other than mid/low range gfx cards. the high-end, especially at that 30k price point is only a small percent of folks who have that kind of dough to spend.

darneka nahin, nvidia hai mutti mein

yep, Agreed :). I made my rig just at a juncture when nForce4 with PCIx16 support was going to come into the market. I had to go for a AGP 6800 GT, but still I atleast had the best out of it for almost the last 2 years untill it began to show age now. I am still thinking it over though..

well if you can wait for a while, ill get my 7600gt soon, which ill test with my setup and tell you if its worth it ;)

The 6800GT is still a fast card. The 7600GS I bought was after a 5900XT!!! In fact, I brought myself to the 7xxx series in the low-end! 76GS won't last me long at all. I too want a card that will take care of me for a couple of years, maybe beyond.

Waiting for the G80 is just going to kill you, trust me. If you had not got that 6800GT, well, think about it.

Besides, what's wrong with having a few spare cards? Can't have too much of a good thing. ;)

Well I have a GeForce FX 5200 AGP 128MB card just in case.

purchased that card when I had to get my 6800 GT replaced. Managed with it for a month.
