Hi every one I am new to this forum..And I need suggestion as I am planning to get amd dual core based system..
which is better manchestar or toledo core..
which should i opt for x2 4200 + or X2 4400+ the cost diff is approxi 3k AFAIK, is the performance difference worth going for x2 4400+ ?
Also suggestion on 17" LCD monitor...let me know the brand model and cost too.
Thanks all of u in advance,
Have a great day.........

Well, if i were you. Id go for a Opteron 165.

And overclock it.

But if those are your only choices, and you wont overclock. Then its 4400+ No doubt. Since it has the 1mb*2 cache, instead of the 4200+'s 512kb*2...

How much diff does the 1MB cache give over the 512k. It should be relatively small i guess( 5% ? ), and so do u warrant spending 3k extra for it?

wat do u mean by that ... :-/
he means that a processor with 512KB of cache would take more time to load most of the things than a processor with 1MB cache , I think so .

to the original poster , this is not true . just spend the extra 3K money and get the X2 4400+ . but I would very well recommend you to get Opteron 170 and overclock it to the max. however , do this only if you have an overclockable motherboard .

Guys, If I am not mistaken, this person is a female. She had contacted me through the ASK TT forums and asked my help.

So, I think at least for her, overclocking is out of the question wotsay??

So, if she is ready to spend the 3K, then let her go ahead and buy it....
