Graphic Cards X3100 vs 8400M GS vs 8600M GT

I only play a bit of CS & TF2, and a LOT of Pro Evolution and Fifa.

Could you please rate the relative performance of the 3 cards on a scale of 10?

Scale of 10 won't be relative.

BTW, here is my take with X3100 as baseline at 1024X768 with full eyecandy

X3100 = 100%

8400M GS = Around 160 to 170%

8600M GT = Over 250%

But it's all guesswork :-(

If you game go for the 8600GT. Since you're probably referring to the XPS1530 I recommend the 256 MB 8600GT.

If you're not going to game at all except maybe WC3 and Q3, then the 8400GS. Onboard - with Vista? - Never!

well with lappies, onboard means less heat and longer battery time.

So if you don't game on lappy, get one with onboard VGA. Oh if only Puma would have been here...

8600M Gt is your safest bet however 8400gs is not a bad performer in games like fifa and pro evolution.

8600GT fine at 1024x768 with eye candy..
I'd like to mention here that recently NV G84 & G86 GPU's were found to have defect on which NV was charged.. Wait what other members have to say on this..

I'd recon 3650 over 8600 coz
> runs cool & low power consumption(55nm).
