Its a Mandatory Live update. Till now there is no game that requires it.
Everyone knws that this Update will result on banhammer so why would anyone go on xbox live and update to this?

Question is that there are new checks added which would result in games to be unplayable when updated to dashboard in few days games will start coming with mandatory update.Ex - Fable III

There is a game out which requires a mandatory update to the Kinect dashboard. I can't recall it's name right now. Looks like Fable 3 is the first game which enforces AP25 disc check. I guess that's the reason some of the drives can't read the backed up copies on the latest BETA dashboard. It's quite dicey at the moment. So let's wait till we know more about this and then anticipate an IXtreme update.

^^its not fable 3 as I have played the original collection in my console just yesterday without issues

Fable 3 doesn't force a dashboard update, it's only the AP25 check which seems to be implemented in the BETA dashboard. Fable 3 is the game which has been reported to use this check and hence it fails to play on some of the modded drives which have this disc protection check.

Seems like team is already started working for new LT, Only Fable 3 is having issues Black Ops , James Bond work well.

The game is 'Hasbro Family Game Night 3' which has SystemUpdate version 9199 on the disc. Apologies for the earlier post as this isn't the Kinect Dashboard, but the last official 360 update which allowed USB drives to be used for storage space.

The official Fall 2010 (v2.0.12611.0) update is available right now, either from XBL or Microsoft's website.

Anyone feel the latest dashboard is somewhat sluggish compared to previous iteration ?

I feel it looks more vibrant and responsive compared to the NXE dashboard. I have noticed minor lags when I get an achievement. Nothing major so far though.

LT+ came out last night , anyone going to do the firmware flashing on its own ?

It seems to be lagging whenever the console tries to get/update something from the Internet. Of course there were minor lags in earlier iterations as well when accessing Internet, but in the new update they seem to be much more noticeable.

ATTENTION! For those who are not aware, MS has just launched another dashboard update on January 19, 2011 (v2.0.12625.0), which enables the once dormant, AP 2.5 protection. What does this mean? Well people who have updated and have had their back up copies running are now getting 'Disc Unreadable' errors. 3 games which are confirmed coughing up with these errors are 'Call of Duty: Black Ops', 'Halo: Reach' & 'Modern Warfare 2'. The rest are a hit & miss.

Solution: People need to upgrade their firmware to IXtreme LT+ and wait for a AP 2.5 patch for these games to be release via ABGX360. Patch your copies and back them up and they will work properly. However, if you have already made back ups, then chances are you won't be able to play them, as those aren't patched and hence the LT+ firmware won't allow those games to boot as a precautionary measure to save you from flagging the console. So word of advice for the people who go online frequently, wait for sometime and then back up your legit copies. For the offline players, DON'T UPDATE and continue with the current trend, until some newer game forces you to update, in which case, you are bound to update it.

For JTAG owners, goes without saying, DON'T UPDATE AT ALL. Wait for your modified kernel update and then carry on.
