Got the console modded from someone but on inserting a backup of the game, it is asking to install the update.What exactly could be the reason? How could i know if its the latest LT installed in the console?

Install the dashboard update? That's odd. If he has updated it to LT+ 2.0 then the dashboard should have been updated by him. Can you check what's your current dashboard version?
 
Dunno why....its GeOW 3 backup.Also the system info panel shows D: 2.0.99199.0

EDIT: Updated from the game disk as per friend's advice and all is perfect now....:) :) Game working perfectly so far, so happy now!!!

PS: I can format the HDD and Clear System cache without affecting the firmware , right?

Why not? It has the same files as the official update that you download from Microsoft's website. In fact, after I performed the update from MS's website, I lost my avatar. Then I did the update that RAGE prompted me to do and it restored my avatar. So disc update is completely safe.
 
Yes it works but there are reports where it had led to bricked consoles especially if you don't go back to stock firmware before the dashboard update.
 
Getting Closer now with Glitched Consoles.

Today an annoymous coder has publicly released his nand image builder for the new Reset Glitch Hack, ggBuild 0.33.

ggBuild is very similar to fbBuild as it builds a freeBOOT style NAND image which includes all of the freeBOOT patches (removed xex signature checks, unlimited HDD Size....) however, the big difference is that ggBuild creates an image to work with Reset Glitch hacked consoles. Seems they were just waiting for RGloader to finish to release this!
