BTW I own an Falcon-NTSC elite brought in from US. I would recommend importing consoles only when you're are traveling frequently to US or else you've friends/relatives who do otherwise its a big pain.

If the console goes bad, you've to ship it so Australia which would cost you about 6k might as well spend it now and get a console in India.

No need to ship it to Australia for locally bought consoles. Just confirmed with Microsoft support. If it's bought in India, the exchange will be done by Redington based in Chennai.
 
^^ I was actually responding to spacenoxx since he is getting it imported from US!

Only the Zephyr part was meant to you. :)

To be frank, I am considering not modding at this stage. Not sure whether it would be a good idea or not. The reason I am trying to get a Jasper is primarily:

1. Tired or this RROD nonsense with the existing Indian units. You dont even see a batch that is manufactured in 2008. Most are old ones and they have a very high rate of RROD.

2. I am also not very sure if the 'disc' scratching thing has been completely taken care of or not. With these old batch units one cannot be sure. I will be damned if I get a Rs. 2500/3000 disc gets scratched just because of a faulty DVD drive on x360.

3. Latest/matured hardware with less problems. MS was always good with their SP1s and SP2. The original product was always crap :-)

I'd suggest not to mod your system!

I've not modded mine... if you feel the games are too expensive wait for a while and there are quite a few hardcore gamers who would sell their when they're done for half or sometimes even lesser price.

Like I said, I may mod it or may not. I will weigh the pros and cons and then probably decide. In anycase I will use it for a while unmodded and see the benefits of live. Once I played UT and D2-LOD live, I fell in love with online gaming. I still play D2-LOD, UT (original) and Morrowind. My 7600GT is a little old for latest games. I have always been a Tomb raider and PoP fan and played all their games. But the latest ones dont run on the current hardware and I HAVE to play PoP and TR-U :-). So I will buy these 2 and prolly the latest NFS and then consider whether to go the MOD way or not.

You'r wish, but as its a jasper, RRoD chances are <5%. Plus RRoD's can be fixed.

Thats another reason why I wanted to buy a jasper cause i wont then be saddled with RROD and MS Warranty :-)
