USA has both PAL and NTSC/U sytems available. Its just that PAL isnt available with Every retailer. Amazon was selling PAL Elites till about a year back.
Apart from that most of the PAL titles are compatible with NTSC/U systems and vice versa. you can confirm this from the Play Asia Site itself. Though NTSC/J,China etc are a different ball game. So i guess u guys are good with either PAL or NTSC/U.

I beg to differ. If that were so, then why is it that I cannot play Ashes Cricket 2009 (PAL) and International Cricket Captain 2010 (PAL) on my Xbox 360 NTSC/U ? PAL and NTSC/U games are not inter-playable at all, apart from a few of them mentioned on Play-Asia.
 
^A price cut is definite but I'd rather avoid getting a NTSC console from the US. I may be buying legit titles irrespective of having the console modded. In any case, I'm placing my bet @ 14k and thereabouts for a modded console. Arcade i.e.
 
More than 50% of the games are region locked , you guys should look for better deals in India .. there's no point in buying an NTSC/U version of the console unless you are going to jtag it .
