I am thinking of getting an xbox 360 so want some info about it.

1.Whats the diffrence b\w the pro and the core console?

2.Price of pro and core console.

3.Diffrence between modded and the orignal.

4.Which one to get modded or orignal.(does modded one voids warrnaty)

5.Modded price?

1 : check microsoft website : Xbox.com | Xbox 360: Customize Your Entertainment Experience

2 : 27k for Pro and 20k for Core

3 : any additional (non-microsoft) modifications to your xbox console enabling you to play pirated discs on it.

4 : modded : no warranty ... go for original... as i recently found out.. it has a 3yr warranty

5:check local grey market... in delhi you can get it for about 18k...

6 : after modding .. yes.. otherwise no

Get the core version and a 64MB memory card to get started. Price of core is 20k + Rs 2100 for the memory card. If you want to connect the console to lcd/crt monitor you need the HD-VGA cable which costs Rs 1685.

The pro version has a 20GB HDD and you get wireless controller a media remote and a 20GB HDD.

For the HDD get one in November/December when they launch the 60GB model at the same price point.

Classic game hits are priced at Rs 999 .For the games I suggest you buy second hand ones. Games like halo3 can be bought for Rs 1000.

- 20GB Hard Drive

- Wireless Controller

- Component HD-AV Cable.

- XBOX Live Headset.

XBOX 360 Core

- No Hard Drive (You need to buy Hard Drive or Memory Card)

- Wired Controller

- Standard AV Cable

- No Headset.

A mod chip is installed in the modded version to run pirated games of any region.

Of course it automatically voids warranty. So if your console decides to go the RROD way, you are screwed.

Cheaper than the official version when you buy it, but the price becomes heavy enough when it decides to die on you and you are struck with no warranty and less than 100% chances of getting it repaired.
In my opinion, if you cannot afford to buy legit games for the high end consoles (be it XBOX 360 or PS3), you shouldn't be splurging 20k+ on the consoles. XBOX 360 and PS3 are unreliable enough to Justify purchase with warranty and purchase of legit versions of the games.
 
core edition 14K,
pro edition 23K.

the new pro edition comes with an hdmi port.i doubt whether it is available in india.
 
I thght i can get it for 13-15k. So dropping this plan and a pc upgrade worth 13k will be better !

FYI

Currently the only way to runbackup copies of X360 Games is through the DVDRom Firmware hack.

The DVD Rom is flashed with a custom firmware which allows one to run backed-up copies of the original x360 games.

This is called softmod. It is fairly simple and one can easily do it himself.

There is no mod-chip for x360.

Also the price of x360 has dropped thnx to PS3, Call either of the two mentioned below for a very competitive price

there are rumours that microsoft is going to launch the arcade version here next month, discontinuing the core and reducing the price of pro version.
 
14k for the core model is the current official price. i got an core model since my previous pro model which i got from was lucky to die with rrod.i just swapped my old hard drive and the wireless controller
 
just wondering.... will an xbox 360 from overseas work fine over here? thinking of asking my friend to get one for me from germany or something.
 
The Xbox 360 had a discounted price of Rs 14,990 for its core model and Rs 23,990 for its pro, which was a limited period offer.

It is now back to being 19,990 and 27,990 respectively.

Yep, thats right. MS found out that they can milk the Indian consumers for more money even with old left over stock rejected in most other countries. :@
