actually YES i was plannin to buy a xbox 360... but the modded one.
cant afford buyin Original games :(
Don't get the modded one. if it gets RRoD you cant do anything. you may have to throw the console and buy a new one.

Fixing the console three years into it's life seems a little too late. I mainly see this as a strategy to sell more consoles.

I talked of modded xbox360 on TeamXbox and got banned without a warning

The same would've happen here as well were it not for the fact that piracy is so damn rampant in India.

well according to Atindrya Bose the sony india country manager they sell 6000 ps3 officialy and 9000 ps3 in the grey,he also said its hard to cut prices since they attract a duty of 35% customs and 12.5% vat.
but IMO the ps3 should still be cheaper since its costs only 13000 to 14000 in hk and SG .even after customs and vat in india it still should cost only 19500 to 20500.

so the same customs duties are same for xbox 360 ,the core and pro model are priced good, but the elite is just too overpriced.

Actually 14000 + 35% Duties + 12.5% VAT = 20650. Plus you have to consider various Octrois and other state taxes and you get the official cost of Rs 22,500.

well not all places have octrai, btw the xbox 360 core and pro prices are good, core price $275+35%+12.5%=16915 but it costs only 12800+12.5%=14800 in bangalore.

@BF1983 well is the official price of ps3 22500?.

Yep, 22.5K seems to be the current price for the PS3. They also bundle a game with it.

The problem with buying the xbox 360 is that many retailers have had poor sales and the 90nm inventory has not cleared out yet.

Late 2008-early 2009 would be the right time to buy these consoles. We will see slimmer and cooler versions of the ps3 and xbox 360 if not cheaper.

whats the current price of Indian X360 Core and X360 Premium grey and officially !

Can we install bigger HDD in Core system ?

^^ And the Core doesn't come with any hard disk. But you can add a hdd and get a fully functional console for just 18k approx.

what HDD's are compatible with x360 core? and why 18k what are the other fully functional features? care to explain.

well u dont get the wirless controller nor do u get a remote control

^^ You can't put any Hdd in. You have to buy an xbox HDD from a store. It is quite expensive ~ 5k but you get it for cheaper at certain places. (i.e no warranty)

The official xbox 360 HDD can be added to the core version. The 20GB HDD costs around 5.5k.

The advantage with the premium console is it comes with a wireless controller, universal remote and Component HDAV cable along with the 20GB HDD. The core version comes with a wired controller and standard AV cable.

The consoles do come with wireless network adapter built in which explains the prices. Earlier they used to bundle 2 games with core and 4 games with premium.

^^ Some stores still continue to sell the consoles with the bundled games. (E.g. jjmehta.com)

EDIT : Just checked the website and I see that the offer is still on (Till 31st May) Xbox.com | Sharmas
