Graphic Cards XFX 5870 card does NOT WORK

hello,
i have built a gaming pc with the following specs
cooler master cm690 cabinet.
intel core i7-920.
cooler master v8 cooler.
asus deluxe v2 mobo.
corsair 750tx SMPS.
2gb transcend ram (1333)
1tb seagate hard disk.
i am waiting for my friend in US to get me a 6gb (3x2GB 1600 corsair dominator ram)
the system boots up when i used a 9800 nVidia graphic card to check the video output
but when i used the ATI 5870 graohic card from XFX the mobo does not boot up. there is no output. there is no response. so please help, tell me what could be wrong.
 
it might be a dead card might have to take it to your dealer as mediahome suggest to have a check and maybe replace it. but just to be sure ... is not just booting or it not posting ... they are two diffrent issues. If its not booting it could be a driver releated issue as well .. if its not posting then it could a dead card and need replacing.
 
Since its booting up fine with the 9800GT, it should be the issue with the 5870.. BTW did you connect the two power connectors onto the 5870??
 
yeah, power is connected. there is dusplay before connecting the graphic card. but when the graphic card is connected, everything goes blank. the power supply to mother board also cuts off. its like the graphic card is the OFF button

yeah i did, but there is no response. once i connect the graphic card the power supply to mother board as such cuts off
