XP SP2 Folder settings problem

i just installed XP from a slipstreamed SP2 CD....

the problem is that whenever i change the view settings for a particular folder (eg. from thumbnail to list) it goes back to the default settings when i open it the next time...

this is seriously bugging cuz i have to change the view settings every time....any ideas ppl ???

In folder options, view tab, select " Remember each folder's view settings".

i tried that...doesnt work..... also every time i restart the quick launch toolbar dissappears and i have to manually set it to view the quicklaunch toobar.... does anybody know where exactly these settings are stored cuz maye the files are read only ??
