Android Xperia SP - Xperience a Stunning Performer

The Xperia SP really feels very solid. The weight of the devices assures great build quality. However i think in the black version the rear cover feels a little rough & dusty. With the default screen cover applied the screen appears washed out. After removal of the cover the screen is not that bad as suggested in some reviews. Though it's still whitish but i have always preferred the color reproduction of sony & HTC handsets over others. Yes, SP does not deliver deep blacks but neither it over saturates the colors not does look like the lifeless/dull colors on the Nexus 4 screen.
With BE2 engine on the videos look really good(no more greyish blacks). The colors though boosted still do not look overdone/burnt like on the AMOLED displays.
There is a white balance option in the settings menu of xperia SP, but it does not really make any significant difference.

TFT is not ordinary. Search up Wikipedia on what TFT really is before commenting on it. People think TFT is some inferior kind of display, it isn't.
You've mistaken TFT (the technology) with TFT-LCDs (LCD screens made with TFT technology). Even AMOLED has a TFT layer in it.

TFT-LCD is really inferior than AMOLED, you can just compare them both side by side. AMOLED produces natural vibrant colours, real black levels, good viewing angles and also more efficient in power consumption. According to me, IPS-LCD is the better than AMOLED, but only marginally. Once the manufacturing problems and the short life of the AMOLEDs is addressed, it will be the best display tech around and everyone would flock to it.

That is exactly what I meant. Thanks for putting words to my thoughts!

can anyone help me.I am planning to take coming sunday.

Xperia SP was at 22.5-23K on Indiatimes or Tradus a couple of days ago. I am also planning to get a phone by the weekend/soon, and these two phones (X-SP and S3) are two of the phones that I am considering. Most of the online shops are selling the S3 at 27.5K and I couldnt find any better deals for it online.

Here local dealers are selling X-SP for 25k.

why havent you considered the nexus 4?

No microSD card slot, to me that is a really big inexcusable shortcoming. I know, Google devices haven't had microSD slots before too, but the reason given by Google is just plain stupid/insulting to users.

Thanks @Oyster that is a great price! But the dealer has 25 negative feedbacks in the last month itself, I would be careful.

I don't know much about the phone myself but from the review posted on the first page... Doesn't it say that there is a sim and micro sd slot when we remove the cover?

I think he was talking about the Nexus 4, which doesn't have one.

^ Yeah. First Xperia Z/ZL/Z Tab/ZR (possibly) will get updated to Android 4.2.2 this month or early next month and then Xperia SP, then L and then M.

Hi All,
I have got this phone in my hand on last Saturday. After a lot of confusion(Xperia SP, HTC one X+ and Nexus 4) I have bought it and should say I have made a good selection from my choices.I bought this phone for 25K(Including scratch card and all).CPU and GPU Performance is above my expectation.I was worried about TFT screen and now i can say bravia engine 2 made my screen quality like IPS display except black colour. My phone is up and running for the last 4 days and there is no lag in performance.I have played temple run and sniper 2 with multiple applications opened with any lag.First two days battery back up was not so good but now i can use one full day with two hours of video playback in full brightness, two hours of gaming , two hours phone call with wifi connected.Chrome browser is awsome. Rear camera is good but cannot find anything special. There is no option for Video call facility. We need to use skype or any other application to overcome that.Sony is giving premium pouch(worth 2k) and it is helps from avoid getting scratches.Currently I am using 8 GB class 4 external card.Already ordered for samsung class 6 32 GB memory and waiting for it to get in hand. Not sure ultra 1 memory cards will work with this chipset (Most probably it will work).I have tried playing both 720p and 1080p videos and it worked fine.Since I am using class 4 memory card while playing 1080p, can see a small lag in every 30 seconds. So while buying memory card go for class 6 or above .Headphone getting along with the phone is not so good, its just like an ordinary headphone so I am using sound magic pl11 and it works nice with this phone.

This is my review about Xperia SP after using for 5 days.
